RE: 2016 ROAD & INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY NOTICE

(Project Progress)

Activity Type: PROJECT START

Dear Resident,

The Village has awarded H Linden & Sons the contract for the 2016 Infrastructure Improvements Project. The project scope of work, depending on the street, may involve the following; lining of sanitary sewers, replacement of water mains, and the installation of storm sewers. In addition, new asphalt/brick pavement and concrete curb & gutters will be constructed. Streets to be improved include:

· East First St – Park St to Elm St (FULL RECONSTRUCTION WITH NEW STORM SEWER AND WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT). First St will be reconstructed with paver bricks.

· North Vine St – North St to Ogden Ave (FULL PAVEMENT RECONSTRUCTION WITH STORM SEWER INSTALLATION). Vine St will be reconstructed with asphalt pavement.

Linden & Sons will begin the project on East First St. Once the First St improvements are completed, they will mobilize to North Vine St. Beginning Monday, March 7, 2016, parking will be prohibited on E First St and North Vine St until the end of June. There will be daily operations that may block driveways for short periods of time while crews perform their tasks. Residents concerned about losing access should make arrangements to park on alternate streets prior to 7AM. The contractor is required to restore access to your driveway by the end of each working day (4:30 PM). However, there will be some construction activities that will prohibit access for a limited time (concrete curb installation later in the project). Residents may use side streets as alternates for daily and overnight parking. Please notify all deliveries, contractors, and guests of these parking restrictions. The police department has been notified.

H Linden & Sons will begin mobilization on Monday, March 7th. Mobilization will include setting up traffic control signs, tree protection fencing, root pruning, pavement sawing, and staging materials & equipment. Major construction operations will commence later in the week with brick pavement removal and storm sewer installation. Water main installation will commence the week of March 21st. Water service transfers to the new main will occur the week of March 28th. Road base preparation, curb and gutter installation, and street brick replacement is scheduled for early April through late May.

N Vine St construction activity is expected to begin the week of April 4th. Pavement removal, storm sewer installation, road base preparation, Curb and gutter and asphalt street replacement is scheduled for early April through late May. This schedule is weather dependent. Storm events will delay activities depending on duration and intensity.

In an effort to limit damages, the Village requests that residents with sprinkler systems in the parkway mark all head locations with flags prior to March 18, 2016. Also, the parkway zones should be shut off once construction begins.

H Linden & Sons will begin daily construction activities at 7:00 AM on weekdays versus the Village standard of 8:00 AM. This will allow the contractor to maximize the number of trips to/from the quarries each day. The contractor’s goal will be to complete daily construction activity prior to the evening rush hour when residents will be returning home.
