Activities and Marketing Coordinator

Hours: 30 hours per week

Typical work week: 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and some evening and weekend work for dinners and events. Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule and vary working hours from week to week according to programs and activities scheduled.

This position requires coordinating all social activities, fund raising events, speakers, marketing and publicizing for the center and center activities. The coordinator will order supplies for activities and decorations. You will also recruit and work with volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks, from decorating the center, preparing tables for special dinners, to making arrangements for upcoming events. This position requires contacting appropriate people, businesses and organizations to ask for assistance, involvement and donations. Design and implement daily, weekly and monthly activities and make daily announcements prior to lunch as well as coordinate lunchtime activities. This position requires coordinating award ceremonies and marketing the center’s events/projects through radio, TV, newspaper, marquees in front of building, website and Facebook; preparing and sending press releases to local newspapers; arranging for advertising and create flyers. This position will be required to hang flyers around the community and center to advertise upcoming activities. The activity and marketing coordinator will be required to provide reports, schedules, and an up-to-date calendar-of-events. They may be required to speak in public venues regarding the center and events. Must arrange and attend meetings and training opportunities. Must be able to relate and work well with elderly, disabled, ill, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile seniors and the general public.

This position is the “face” of the Golden Hour Senior Center when you are with the patrons or marketing for the center.

Essential Functions: Ability to make independent decisions, prioritize, organize, plan develop and implement programs and activities. Need to possess patience, enthusiasm, flexibility, diplomacy, detail oriented and prepared to handle any emergency that may occur.

Provide input to the Director regarding the status of programs and activities and monitor the activity budget. Travel will be required on an as needed basis.

Assist seniors, answer phones, take messages and other related duties as needed.

Knowledge and Skills: Minimum of a high school education or equivalent. Must possess proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, communication and presentation skills. Need a valid Wyoming driver’s license and a dependable vehicle. Has knowledge of Green River and Rock Springs businesses and organizations.
