ALEPH Offline Circulation Procedures

Use ONLY the check-out PC at the front Circ Desk

To bring up Aleph Offline Circulation (O-Circ):

· Click “Circulation” Icon on desktop

OR

· Go to Start Menu – Programs

o Aleph 500 – Circulation

· When asked for Aleph password, do NOT log in,

o choose CANCEL

· You will see the message: “Could not log in to Aleph. Start the application anyway”?

o Choose YES

· You will see the message, “Failed to connect to the host”. Don’t worry - that’s the correct message.

o Choose OK

o Click Circulation on drop-down toolbar

o Select Offline Circulation

· You will see the message: “The transaction file is not empty. Do you want to clear the file”?

o Choose NO. In fact….

*** NEVER choose “Clear File” ***

The O-Circ work screen now appears. You will have two options: LOAN and RETURN. The default is LOAN.

***LOOK AT THE MONITOR***LOOK AT THE MONITOR***

To LOAN: (position cursor in box if necessary)

· Scan or key in patron barcode (Enter)

· Scan or key in item barcode (Enter)

· Note: Use F7 to clear patron’s barcode and start a new transaction.

To RETURN: (first position cursor in box)

· Scan or key in item barcode (Enter)
