A RESOLUTION memorializing Webster L. Cowden, Jr.

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was a long-time resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, living in Lexington, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was the beloved son of the late Webster Lyter Cowden, Sr. and Callie Taylor Cowden; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was the loving husband of Susan Sawyer Cowden; he was the loving father of Webster Lyter Cowden III and Catherine Cowden Bryan; and he was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was the former president of Cowden Manufacturing Company; and was the former president of Tococo Co.; he was the owner of QuaLex LCC, and as such contributed greatly to the good of the economy of the Commonwealth, bringing jobs and economic vitality to the Central Kentucky Region for many years; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. served as a past president and board member of the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center and served as the chair of the Bluegrass Chapter of Ducks Unlimited; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. benefitted his country through his service in the Army National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Webster L. Cowden, Jr. passed from this world on August 20, 2004;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby offer its most profound and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Webster L. Cowden, Jr. on the event of his passing and, furthermore, affirms that his loss will be felt not only in the Central Kentucky Region, but throughout the entirety of the Commonwealth, as Webster L. Cowden, Jr. was a man who brought prosperity to the Commonwealth and contributed considerable amounts of his time to the benefit of others.

Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit four copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Susan Sawyer Cowden, 2000 Hume Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40516.
