25 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Summary of Job:
Manage the maintenance and caretaking activities of the Federation to ensure the safety, security and sound condition of buildings, facilities and grounds.
Outline of Main Duties:
1. Day to day maintenance of non PFI assets, buildings, grounds.
2. Maintain the Federation asset registers by including all new purchases of equipment etc., that are valued at £250 or over, for insurance purposes and to comply with Internal Audit requirements.
3. First point of contact for all PFI requirements, to include caretaking, cleaning, additional works and additional hours requests using the helpdesk management system to include tracking, monitoring and quality control of all tasks logged.
4. Liaise with on-site external clients and contractors where necessary.
5. Undertake daily and seasonal maintenance of the non PFI sites and equipment to include changing light bulbs, clock batteries, door locks, decorating, clearing drains and toilets and general repairs and maintenance.
6. Transport parcels and equipment between the main school and non PFI school sites.
7. Provide cover for any absence of the caretaker.
8. Promote and monitor the efficient use of utilities (gas, electricity and water).
9. To promote and comply with the school’s policies on Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.
10. Assist with other general duties deemed necessary by your line manager.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to work with colleagues as part of a team, to be flexible, adaptable and to multi-task.
  • Good level of communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Driving licence required.
  • Ability to organise own workload.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of working in a school environment.
  • Basic IT skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel.

Training will be given where appropriate to enable the post holder to acquire the necessary skills.
