A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Private First Class Dustin P. Napier.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Private First Class Dustin P. Napier, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Private First Class Dustin P. Napier, of London, Kentucky, was born on November 25, 1991; and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 8, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Dustin P. Napier was the loving husband of Tabitha Sturgill Napier; he was the doting stepfather of Lane Robinson; he was the beloved son of Darrell and Marianne Napier; he was the caring brother of Darrell Dean Napier and Christopher Bittner; he was the adoring grandson of Monica Paul and James Napier; and he leaves behind many other family members who loved him dearly; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Dustin P. Napier graduated from South Laurel High School in 2010, where he participated in the ROTC program all four years of his high school career and ranked as top cadet during his senior year; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Dustin P. Napier enlisted in the United States Army in 2010; and he was assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; and

WHEREAS, the life of Private First Class Dustin P. Napier ended prematurely of injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire in Zabul Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class Dustin P. Napier gallantly served his country with honor and distinction; and his awards and decorations include the: Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Special Skills Badge - Expert Rifle, and Overseas Service Bar; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Private First Class Dustin P. Napier and is deeply grateful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Private First Class Dustin P. Napier has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Private First Class Dustin P. Napier and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Private First Class Dustin P. Napier.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Tabitha Sturgill Napier, 5125 Highway 932, Eolia, Kentucky 40826-6587; and to Darrell and Marianne Napier, 2412 Taylor School Road, London, Kentucky 40741-8851.
