1Definition

Workplace policies andprocedures refers tothe documented procedures and policies providing guidelines of the tasks and activities carried out in the workplace. This typically includes relevant health and safety policies to manage risk in the workplace.

2All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and workplace policies and procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product, and workplace health and safety, and must meet the obligations required under the Health and Safety at Work Act2015 and Resource Management Act 1991, and any subsequent amendments.

Outcomes and performance criteria

Outcome 1

Establish job requirements for the repair, restoration, and structural alteration of steel boats.

Performance criteria

1.1Job specifications are obtained and verified in accordance with workplace policies and procedures.

1.2Boat is examined to determine the nature and extent of work required according to job specifications, and anomalies are reported in accordance with workplace policies andprocedures.

Rangework – repair, restoration, structural alteration, and combinations.

1.3Existing defects and damage not subject to the specified work are identified and communicated in accordance with workplace policies andprocedures.

Outcome 2

Prepare boats for the required work.

Performance criteria

2.1Materials and tools required for the job are selected and obtained in accordance with job specifications.

2.2Support is provided for boats so that they remain stable, and their original shape is retained, throughout the work.

2.3Protection is provided for existing equipment, fittings, furnishings, and surfaces in accordance with job specifications.

Rangeprotection in situ, protection by removal and safe storage, electrical protection.

Outcome 3

Carry out the required work.

Performance criteria

3.1Parts to be repaired are disassembled according to job specifications.

3.2Joint types are examined, repaired, and replaced according to job specifications.

3.3Broken components are examined, repaired, and replaced according to job specifications.

3.4Replacement components and materials are selected and installed according to job specifications.

Outcome 4

Prepare boats for handing over to clients.

Performance criteria

4.1Surfaces and finishes are reinstated according to job specifications.

4.2Protected items are reinstated and checked according to job specifications.

4.3Action is taken in accordance with company procedures in the event of unforeseen circumstances which prevent the achievement of job specifications.
