ARRIVAL CHECK PROGRAM
Thank you to the many parents who are using the attendance line to report student absences and lates. It really makes it faster for us to ensure that all students have arrived safely first thing in the morning. If your child will be coming in LATE or will be ABSENT, please leave a message on our Attendance Line, 905-821-4973 extension # 1. Please call each day your child is absent.
STUDENT LATES: PROMPTNESS – AN IMPORTANT LIFE SKILL
We are experiencing a growing number of students who are late for school each day. On some days we have as many as 30 students who arrive between 8:50 and 9:00 a.m. This creates a disruption to the classes and a huge congestion in the hallway. Parents are asked to please leave a few minutes earlier in the morning to ensure their child arrives to school on time. School instructional time for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 begins at 8:45 a.m., with the entry bell ringing at 8:40 a.m. An ideal arrival time is between 8:30-8:40. Thank you for helping us achieve MAXIMUM LEARNING TIME FOR ALL!
Students arriving after this time will need to enter through the front doors and be buzzed into the school. All late students MUST sign in before going to their classes. Please do not send your child to school prior to 8:30 a.m. Supervision does not begin on the yard until 8:30. It is a safety concern for students to be outside unsupervised early in the morning.
LATE KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS must be brought into the school and signed in by a
Parent. Please do not drop kindergarten children off at the front door by themselves.
NO SCENTS IS GOOD SENSE
Just a reminder that all staff, students, and visitors at Plowman's Park are asked to
contribute to a healthy indoor air environment by not using perfumes, colognes or
other scented products when coming into the school.

PLOWMAN’S PARK GOES PINK ON APRIL 12
Day of Pink began in Nova Scotia after two high school students witnessed another student get bullied with homophobic language for wearing a pink shirt. The students knew they had to stand up to this bullying so the next day, they rallied hundreds of students to wear pink shirts in support of the victim. Ever since then, the international “Day of Pink” has been celebrated on the second Wednesday in April. This year, due to other holy days taking place on that day as well, the Peel District School Board has decided to celebrate Day of Pink on Tuesday April 12, 2016.
Plowman’s Park students, staff, and parents are invited to wear pink on this day to show their support of promoting inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and helping to stop homophobic and transphobic bullying.
At Plowman’s Park, in April, teachers will be discussing themes of diversity, inclusion and anti-bullying in classrooms through literature and books from our library. School wide we will share the Day of Pink message through morning announcements, posters and other activities.
Wearing pink is a reminder to everyone that positive actions CAN and DO make a difference. Wear pink and make a difference!

NEWS FROM MRS.PIECH IN THE GYM
Congratulations to George as he was named the Plowman’s Park Ultimate P-I-G during our school’s racquet ball tournament on Friday, March 11th. Students in grades 3 to 6 were learning racquet skills in Physical Education classes during the month of March. Each class held a mini P-I-G tournament in this small court, 1 on 1 game to 3 points. The points are tracked with the letters P-I-G. The student with the most wins in the mini class tournament was named the class P-I-G and went on to play at the school tournament. Congratulations to all of the class PIGS! The following students won their class tournament: Yousef from Mrs. Matthew’s class, Abdallah from Mrs. Langford’s class, Rayan from Mr. Elsey’s class, Jailyn from Mr. Eddy’s grade 4 class, George from Mr. Eddy’s grade 5 class, Jayden from Mrs. Gilliland’s grade 5 class, Ashar from Mrs. Gilliland’s grade 6 class and Surya from Mrs. Babwah’s class. All students showed exemplary sportsmanship!
Good luck to the Plowman’s Park grade 4 and 5 Boys and Girls Basketball Teams. On April 7th and 14th respectively they will participate in a Basketball Tournament hosted at Vista Heights Public School. The students will be playing a variety of schools from our neighbouring communities. Thanks to all the players for their continued dedication to their team and efforts during practice.
After the Basketball tournaments are complete there will be a variety of activities for students during lunch recess. Mondays will be grade 6 drop in Volleyball , Tuesdays will be Junior Beep Test Practice, Wednesdays will be grade 3 Dodge Ball and Thursday will be Primary Beep Test Practice. The Beep Test is a running endurance test. During this multi-stage fitness test students run the length of the gym (approximately 20 meters) and return at the sound of the beep. It is used to progressively increase the aerobic cardiovascular endurance of athletes. All students are encouraged to drop by and start running.
How you play shows some of your character. How you win or lose shows all of it.
PIZZA LUNCH REMINDER
The final pizza lunch term will run from Thursday, April 7 to Thursday, June 23. If you did not order pizza for this term, please be sure to send a lunch with your child each week.
MOVING OUT OF THE PLOWMAN'S PARK AREA
