Bee Keeper News
In addition to preparing the hives, we have also been teaching the students at 3 different elementary schools in the area, including the 2nd grade class at Riverdale Elementary, Voyage Academy Kindergarten class and Uintah Elementary 2nd grade class. We have been teaching them about bees and beekeeping and how important bees are to the environment and making food for us to eat. Word is getting out about our passion for His bees and what they do for His Creation. This is already starting to be an exciting year for the beekeeping ministry!!
We welcome any interested folks to our next monthly business meeting on Monday, May 1st at 6:30 pm in the Wesley Room to learn about bees and taste honey snacks.

Trustees Talk
Gary will be leading a group of volunteers to put rock in the two far south island beds and finish moving sprinkler lines. This will complete the goal in trying to make our plant and flower beds easier to maintain and more water efficient. Gary is planning to do this Saturday May 20th at 9:00 AM and will need man power (or woman power)! More details will be coming and of course everything outside is weather dependent. Strong backs, work gloves, shovels, knee pads, and wheel barrows welcome.
Spring has Sprung
We will still be needing volunteers to maintain the lawn during the summer (thank you to all who signed up) Remember the lawn needs to be mowed on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
We still need volunteers to maintain our lovely church garden beds. Even though some of our beds now require less care they still need weeding. Than you to those who planted the beautiful flowers and trees in years past – They are gorgeous! Watch for the sign-up sheets for flower beds and lawn or contact the church office @ 801-393-5662 or if you wish to help.
Attention Students:
The 2017 William H. & LaDean Stobaugh Scholarship Application is available on the church website. Completed applications are due to the church office or to the United Methodist Men no later than June 11.

The United Methodist Women
The UMW May Mission emphasis is UMCOR—United Methodist Committee On Relief. This is a church-wide emphasis not restricted to United Methodist Women, although the collection of items for relief kits, until recent years, rested with UMW. Bulk buying power makes monetary donations more practical. United Methodist Women invite everyone to join in donating during May to the monthly mission emphasis, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Every dollar collected will be sent to UMCOR. The UMCOR West Depot in Salt Lake City is the collection facility and the shipping facility for humanitarian relief supplies and kits. Specific countries and churches inside the United States may request kits/supplies to meet needs created by natural disasters, floods, armed conflicts, or displaced persons.Every dollar assists with humanitarian supplies, with administrative costs and shipping costs supplied by the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. We are amazed at the spirit of cooperation and generosity expressed in recent years. The opportunities to help meet specific needs are endless through giving to UMCOR!
Summer Special Musicians Needed
The Chancel Choir and Bell Tones will be on summer vacation, so we need lots of talented people to provide special music May 29 – September 3. Sign up on the clipboard during worship or call or email the church office. Speak with Karen Miller, if you need an accompanist.
Heritage Memorial Sunday
On Sunday, May 28, First UMC will honor those persons who have 50 years or more of membership in FUMC. We will also dedicate any memorials added to our church in the past 12 months. If you are one of our long-time members or you have been involved in a memorial contribution, please plan to attend worship that Sunday.
