The Mental Health Act and its Amendments
Friday 13 March 2009
9.00am Registration and Coffee; 9.30am Welcome and Introduction; 4.40pm Close
Village Hotel, Otley Road, Leeds
The newly introduced amendments to the Mental Health Act (MHA) have opened the door for many different professions to be involved in its use. Previously it was primarily Approved Social Workers and Psychiatrists who needed to understand the act and its use. Now nurses, occupational therapists and psychologists may also be central to the use of its powers and with this authority comes a responsibility to understand the process.
This training day aims to provide a broad overview of the Mental Health Act including the most recent amendments. It is delivered by a multi-professional panel and is designed for those who have some working knowledge of the MHA and are keen to know more about both the Act and their potential future involvement.
