12/05-Present: Company Commander Fort Carson, CO & Fort Riley, KS

Captain: First in command of a 10-man training support company. Responsible for developing and implementing training plans that prepare soldiers, sailors, and airmen for combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Established urban operations training standardsfor a new Armytraining center in Ft. Riley, KS
  • Planned, resourced, and executed purposeful and demanding training for over 225 soldiers preparing for combat and their subsequent roles as military advisors in Iraq and Afghanistan

02/04-12/05: Mortar Platoon Leader Habbiniyah, Iraq & Fort Carson, CO

First Lieutenant: First in command of a 32-soldier indirect fire specialty platoon. Responsible for the readiness of six vehicles and four mortar systems valued over $2 million.

  • Awarded Bronze Star Medal for superior leadership and exceptional performance in combat
  • Selected over 27 peers as one of two specialty platoon leaders within the battalion
  • Supervisedover 600 Iraqi construction workers, U.S. civilian engineers, and security forces to rebuild and develop a new operating base for the Iraqi Army
  • Led the platoon through 15 raids, 22 cordon and searches, 45 indirect fire missions and 37 security patrols; resulting in 82 detained insurgents
  • Managed the movement of $2 million of equipment from Korea to Iraq then from Iraq to FortCarson
  • Led the platoon through the emotional and family hardships of being deployed for two consecutive years

08/03-02/04: Platoon Leader Camp Greaves, Korea

Second Lieutenant: First in command of a 35-soldier platoon serving on the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. Responsible for the readiness and maintenance of$250,000 in equipment.

  • Developed a company physical fitness program that enabled the company to achieve the highest fitness average in the battalion
  • Planned and executed three major company training events and led the platoon on a rigorous 96 hourtraining exercise that culminated with a live fire exercise and an aerial re-supply
  • Rated as “in the top five percent of his contemporaries [of 25],” and “demonstrates intelligence and initiative”
  • Graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger school
