8th Grade Integrated Science

CRT test Review

Description: Students will review the core vocabulary words they are expected to know at the end of the course.

Time Needed: 90-120 minutes if students do a jigsaw and the charades. 10-15 minutes a day for 7-9 days if students work individually.

Materials: Student sheets (see below) textbooks, notebooks

Procedures:

Jigsaw-Charades

1. Hand out student sheets and group students by 4’s.

2. Tell students to split up the words and complete their sections. Not all words will have an example or drawing.

3. Allow students to share their answers.

4. Play “Charades” with the students in groups of 8. Allow each group of 4 to play against another group. In charades, each group will write down 10 words from the student sheet on small pieces of paper. They put them in a container and give them to the other group. One member of that group draws a paper out and then has to act out the word for their own team. Their team must guess the word before a minute is up. Then the process switches to the other group.

Starter Question or Daily Review

1. Give students the student sheets and have them work individually over the course of several days to complete. Do not spend an entire day on this worksheet or they will justifiably mutiny.

2. Students can play charades as described above if desired when they are finished.

Scoring Guide:

1. Student has filled out student sheet…………………………….4

2. Student participates in charades………………………………. 4
