7.4.W.2 Students will select appropriate language to create a specific effect according to purpose in writing.

7.5.W.1 Students will write using correct mechanics with a focus on commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, colons, and semi-colons.

7.7.W.1 Students will select, organize, or create multimodal content to complement and extend meaning for a selected topic.

7.8.W Students will write independently over extended periods of time (e.g., time for research, reflection, and revision) and for shorter timeframes (e.g., a single sitting or a day or two), vary their modes of expression to suit audience and task, and discover different perspectives.

This final is worth TWO separate final grades; a writing grade and a presentation grade for a total of 200 points.

  1. You will be creating a past, present, or future figurative ghost foldable as if you are the figurative ghost.
  2. Your foldable must meet all of the requirements and have a professional presentation. It will be graded with the writing rubric.
  3. You will present both paragraphs on the day you are assigned for your English Final. You will be graded with the presentation rubric.

Requirements:

  • Creative name of figurative ghost – must contain the word past, present, or future.
  • Must be capitalized correctly for a title.

  • A minimum of a 7 sentence paragraph description of your figurative ghost.
  • The focus is on imagery and word choice.
  • You must use two figurative language device in your description.
  • All sentences must contain correct grammar and sentence structure.

  • An image for your figurative ghost that is hand drawn.
  • Inside of the figurative ghost, you must have three indirect character traits labeled and an action that would demonstrate show those specific traits that your figurative ghost possesses (think of own characteristics) legibly written.
  • Outside of the figurative ghost, you must have three direct character traits labeled and a sentence description of that trait legibly written.
  • The image must be colored neatly with colored pencils.
