PRESIDENTS NOTES

OK, It is officially car cruising time in the city and I hope you are out driving your classics every once in a while to keep things lubed up. Once again I would like to remind you if you are planning on attending the Midwest Regional in Tulsa you need to get registered and book your lodging. The Tulsa boys are trying to make sure that they have enough cars to fill the indoor arena and if the price of gas is a factor for you making the decision of attending or not here is a little tip. Get you an old jar and start throwing your pocket change in and every once in a while put a buck or two in there as well. By the time August gets here you should have enough to cover the gas. I know it was mentioned to me that some folks from the St. Louis area may not be coming due to the current gas prices but please don’t let that stop you.

On another subject. The last couple of meetings we have had were held in a different format and our regular business has taken a back seat so at the next meeting we will try and set aside time to go over a few things.

I know that everyone is sick of doing what needs to be done in order to host a car show as a group including myself. But we as a group need to make a decision on the local show that we host. Yes, I am referring to the GAD car & bike show. Currently we have no one lined up to support this show. It seems as if the club has lost interest in doing what it takes to keep this adventure going. So as your President I need your input and would like your view on the next question.

Does the Wichita Area Chevelle Owners want to continue hosting and organizing this show or do we want to let it go? I don’t want to sound critical but I have not received any support to get sponsors or to work the logistics of the show. So, please bring your thoughts to the next meeting and lets make a decision. The year is flying by and if we don’t make a decision soon we will be in trouble.

I have recently been contacted by the City of Andover and I need to reply but until I know how all of you feel and that we can count on the support of all the members, I am not certain what to tell them.

The next meeting will be held at one of our members resident. Mr. Bill Washburn. Please check the newsletter for more information and directions to the next meeting, which will be held on June-7-2006. Bill had mention that he will have a guy there that does media blasting so come on out and learn from the pros.

Thanks

Mike

MOUNDRIDGE CAR SHOW

JUNE 3 2006

The show is planned to be in Wheatridge Park that is the one just south of the main park. Registration from 8-12 with awards being handed out at 3. Who ever wants to take their car through the parade will be allowed to do so at the given time. What we are working with right now is 40 class trophies and approx. 10 special awards. We just don’t know how many to do not knowing how many cars to expect and funds are limited. We are asking a $10 entry fee this year. Last year we had about 30 cars for our first show and it was in the school parking lot due to wet grounds in the park. We hope to at least double the amount of cars this year. The only other show that we know about is the one in Derby. We have about 20 classes with two winners in each class but that can be adjusted with the cars that come. I think the plaques will read CLASS WINNER and not specify 1st or 2nd. There will probably be some classes that will have no entries which will allow us to give more in some other classes.

It’s on! We are having Hotrod night down here at the Derby DQ. It will be the last Tuesday of every month until the weather gets bad next fall. Would you let everyone know about it? Hope to see you there. PS: I got a new Chevelle. It’s a white `72 SS 454. Blower car is gone.

EMAIL NOTES

Ok guys I finally took some pic's of the 300 Deluxe. They are only of the shell and give you a good idea of the crapy condition it is in but with a ton of work I will make it like new again. I have new quarter skins, trunk drop off's and 3 new floor support cross members for it now. The floor is on order and should be in late next week or the following week. Yesterday I stripped all the glass, the heater parts, dash cluster, wiring and steering column out. It is now a empty shell. Tomorrow I will begine to remove all the rust and replace/repair the damaged parts.

Later guys and happy motoring!
