MEETING MINUTES
6/8/06: Landscape Committee established at WHOA meeting.
Members joining that evening – Jim Brocker, Ann Brocker, Linda Gaylor, Don Carpenter, John Hale, Gail Hale, Dwight Carter, Doug Bender.
6/27/06 First Landscape Committee Meeting at Linda Gaylor’s house.
Attending: Neil Mason, Jim Brocker, Ann Brocker, Linda Gaylor and Don Carpenter.
Discussed: Use of green spaces – possibly mowing a grass path for walkers,
adding a picnic area by Sycamore Creek, hiring residents to do mowing, getting bids for mowing, checking compliance issues township for erosion and pollution of Sycamore Creek, better weed control at entrance, have homeowners stop mowing in greenspaces, tree replacement on Woodstream Dr.
6/29/06 Second meeting of Landscaping Committee at Linda Gaylor’s house.
Attending: Ann and Jim Brocker, Don Carpenter, and Linda Gaylor.
7/12/06 Landscape Committee meeting at Jim and Ann Brocker’s house at 7PM
Discussed research on possible tree replacement on Woodstream Drive. New entrance plantings were discussed and how to gather bids for the work on the entrance. Don Carpenter reported on compliance issues. Jim and Ann Brocker painted signpost at Woodstream entrance. Neil Mason proposed a discussion of mowing the greenspaces and homeowners buying a mower but storage would be a problem. Group discussed how to take the problem of insightly lawns to the Enforcement Committee. Need to get our budget from the Board. Need to obtain names and numbers of mowing, lighting and irrigation companies.
7/26/06 Landscape Committee meeting at Jim and Ann Brocker’s house.
All members in attendance, including new member Doug Bender. Sign company was contacted and it is painted with Sherwin Williams “Hunter Green”. Committee has been trying to get empty lots cleared of trash by builders. Brian Lieburn from Sovereign gave us a diagram of our property. Tony Mason reported on buying a mowing. Golden Rule Company has entrance irrigation but system is not operable because Violet Township has not given the entrance an address. Greg Butcher from Violet Township has promised Linda to check out the drainage behind her house. Got nowhere with Dan Diyanni about replacing trees on Woodstream Drive.
8/17/06 Landscape Committee members walk the greenspaces to discuss mowing and weed control.
9/20/06 Landscape Committee meeting at Jim and Ann Brocker’s house.
All in attendance but Doug Bender. All bids for mowing were collected and presented to the committee by the member that obtained them. Linda Gaylor will put bids on a spreadsheet to better compare them. Tim Rini says “absolutely not” to tree replacement on Woodstream Drive. Committee asking for criteria on mailbox replacement. Trying to define difference between Landscaping and Architectural Committees. Builder promises to seed the drainage area. Discussion of hiring a management company. I suggested to Warner that he suggest to Diyanni that they continue to mow our greenspaces since they are still building in Woodstream.
John Hale cut the grass and removed debris from the empty lot on Creekwood. Committee thanks him. Ann and Jim took 7 whellbarrows full of concrete from the lot to the dumpsters.
Emailed Dan Diyanni about tree replacement on Woodstream Drive.
10/4/06 Ann talked with Rodney Warner of Warner Landscaping. Weed and feed has been applied to the entrance area but only in front and behind fence on Busey.
4/21/07 Committee met with Golden Rule at entrance to Woodstream to discuss operation of irrigation system and possibly extended the system to cover more area.
5/07 Don Carpenter quits the committee. Trees on Woodstream have blue ribbons for replacement. Discussion of damage to trees near Sycamore Creek. Children have been cutting down approximately 30 trees with a machete and have built a tree house with a fire pit under it.
7/17/07 Landscape Committee meeting at Jim and Ann Brocker’s house, only three members in attendance. Discussion and decision made to get estimates on a design for the Woodstream entrance.
9/13/07 Landscape Committee meeting at Jim and Ann Brocker’s house.
