5th GIS-in-Central-Asia Conference - GISCA 2011

The main objectives of this English language conference are to bring together GIS academics, researchers and practitioners in the Central Asian countries and encourage international cooperation and knowledge exchange in GIS education.

In 2011, GISCA is focused on the theme of "Geoinformatics: Managing Environment, Resources and Risk". GIScience as a conceptual foundation, Geoinformatics as a methodology and GIS as software are powerful instruments for linking information from different sources by location. This is exactly what is needed to manage our environments and natural resources, and to assess risks arising from natural, technical and social factors.

Conference takes place, 19-20th on May2011 at theKazakh national university by al-Faraby, to the address of: Kazakhstan, 050040, Almaty, av. Al-Faraby, 71, campus 6, faculty of geography.

The manuscripts, which were not meeting specified requirements, will not be published. To participation to conference scientists, teachers, post-graduate students and students are invited. INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Articles sent to the journal “Bulletin of the KazNU. A series of geographical”, must meet the following requirements:
1. Articles submitted for publication must have a referral (recommendation) from the agency or department (laboratory), which made this work.
2. The text of the article is submitted in 1 copy (computer version on diskette). Text typed in the editors Word Windows. You must use a typeface such as Times New Roman (Kz Times New Roman), font size - № 12, (for the text in the Kazakh language, number 11) through one (1) interval. When you print on standard A4 paper is required to leave the field: 20 mm - left, 20 mm - right, 30 mm - top, 30 mm - lower. The paper should not exceed 9.8 pages, and for information and critical and bibliographical - 2-3 pages, published in the journal ordered articles, the volume of which is determined by the Editorial Board. In one room may be published no more than two articles of one author.
3. When writing articles should adhere to the following plan:
- UDC in the upper left corner of the village;
- The initials and surname of the authors;
- Title of the article in capital letters in bold;
- Full name of the institution where the work is done (in the center of the page);
- A short summary (abstract) outlining the main results of the study (no more than 6-7 lines);
- An introduction to the essence of research indicating that a new writer brings to this area of science compared with other researchers;
- Materials and methods are described clearly and precisely, at the same time should not paint the methods previously published, it is enough to give a reference to the relevant source literature;
- Results and discussion "should be described briefly, it is logical to clear;
- At the end of the article should be "brief summary", it is important to show its practical or theoretical significance.
4. References to literature are given numbers in parentheses as oblique references. In the reference list followed by surname and initials of author (s) go to the article title, book, journal, year, volume number, first and last page (see sample below). In the reference list is only cited literature.
5. Illustrations, graphs, charts, diagrams should be presented in clear drawings executed on the computer and inserted into the text of the article or to make a separate file. Caption signed in italics at the bottom of the figure with the number, for example, "Fig. 2. Changing the soil. «The word "Table" is written in italics on the right side, under it - the name of the table (the center).
6. Articles are in Kazakh, Russian and English languages, the summary, title and author's name should be presented in three languages (translated into the Kazakh language papers received from the CIS countries or abroad, by the editorial board). Manuscripts must be carefully edited, have no typos. At the end of the article should be signed by all authors, indicating the home address, office and home phones, e-mail address (e-mail).
7. Formulas are typed on a computer in the Editor Microsoft Equation Editor.
8. Should be limited to the standard abbreviations and avoid introducing new cuts without sufficient justification.
9. The article must be accompanied by reviews. Articles are "peer reviews" (order is determined by the editorial board).
10. Articles, clearance of which does not meet the requirements for publication are not allowed. Comments on the editorial board rejected articles are not available, the authors of the manuscript are not returned.
