INTERVIEW SPEECHES

1. Write 25 open-ended or hypothetical questions

Either leave plenty of room to take notes or plan to use a separate piece of paper when interviewing your partner

2. When your partner is finished writing 25 questions, go someplace quiet, and ask your questions. Remember to take GOOD, DETAILED notes.

3. When you are being interviewed by your partner, make sure you give good answers. Try to tell stories if possible. Give examples and details.

4. When you are finished with the interviews, try to organize your speech as much as possible. You may try taking a highlighter and highlighting "like" information. Some people like to number items in order, others like to cut and paste the "research" they have. The process is completely up to you.

5. Fill out the outline worksheet. Try to organize your speech either chronologically or topically.

6. Type your speech out word for word (make a manuscript). Remember to use a lot of good transitions in between topics, and write creatively.

7. Either memorize your speech or put it on note cards (It is fine to cut and paste)

8. Rehearse your speech while remembering all the things included on your rubric.

Practice gestures, eye contact, movement, facial expressions, enthusiasm, etc. PLEASE don't just read to us. Your job is to entertain and to inform. Practice makes PERFECT.

9. When you are finished delivering your speech for the class. Take your tape into the dressing room and watch your performance. Fill out the reflection form as honestly as you can, and give it to Mrs. Harrison. She will hand you your grade AFTER the reflection is completed.
