Regarding: Utility Patent for the Ombré Process
Los Angeles, California –Designer Sally Sirkin Lewis, Founder and President of J. Robert Scott, Inc., has been granted a U.S. Utility Patent for her ground-breaking decorative Ombré furniture finish.
The Ombré finish technique was introduced in 2010, and has captured the interest of the style-savvy design community who are always seeking the finest in quality and high concept custom furnishings. Ombré, is a French term meaning shadow or shade. In the lexicon of J. Robert Scott furniture, it is the hand-applied coloration to a wood veneer surface in a seamless gradient from light to dark, which produces a transparent visual effect accentuating the character of the wood grain. Each piece is different, and a completely original expression of the artistry of decorative finishing.
Over the span of more than four decades in the design industry, Ms. Lewis, a pioneer in the field, has been awarded more than 150 Design Patents for furniture.
