Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the safety of our students we will NO longer allow students to be picked up in the office at 3:15 unless student has an appointment. We will also need an excuse from the appointment for that day. Any student that is picked up at 3:15 or later will need to be picked up in the Red Tag rider lane. If you do not have a tag you may come in and fill one out in the front office. Reminder, morning drop offs are at the East side door. No parent drop offs in the front of the building until after 8:05 A.M. This will help to ensure the safety of our students being dismissed to their busses. Thank you for making student safety a top priority at Owingsville Elementary.

Happy Birthday

Just a reminder: If any student needs to take prescription medication at school you MUST have an additional consent form filled out and signed at the health unit (this goes for inhalers too). We cannot administer any prescribed medication without this consent signed. All medication must be in the original container with the prescription label attached. Also, students are not allowed to bring prescription meds on the school bus. Thank you!

Dream Out Loud Challenge

The Dream Out loud Challenge is a creative contest that gives parents of Kentucky K-6 students a chance to win a $1,500 college savings account and $500 for their child’s school! The contest will run through March 20, 2015. Mailed entries must be postmarked by March 20th and received by March 25, 2015. Students submit an original drawing, video, essay or poem answering the question, “How will I change the world after I go to college?” More info is available from the counselor’s office and your student’s teacher.

To celebrate the 100th day of school for the 2014-2015 school year Owingsville Elementary School will be having a Canned Food Drive February 2nd-6th 2015.

Please help us collect nonperishable food items for many families in need within our community.

·  Items needed include canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, rice, beans, cereal bars, mac & cheese, chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, tomato soup, chili, beef stew, canned meat, slim jims, canned pasta meals such as ravioli and spaghetti & meat balls. Anything really helps!

·  NO GLASS JARS

·  School Collection is 1,000 ITEMS

We are asking each class to bring in 100 canned food items or more. The class that brings in the most canned food items will receive a reward!

In celebrating the 100th day of school, Friday, February 6th is designed “100th day”. We hope to collect the most food drive items on this day. The classroom with the most items collected this day will receive a reward too!

(If there are any “snow days”, the food drive will be pushed back one day for each day missed)
