Christmas Parade Guidelines 2008

Parade theme:

“Nutcracker Sweets”

Setup time: Setup time is 3:00pm on Saturday, November 29.

Setup location: Setup location is First Street between Seminary and School Streets

Check-in: Upon arrival please check in at the command table at First & Seminary. You will be greeted and escorted to your starting location.

Rain Date: The parade will take place Rain or Shine

Parade start time: The parade begins at 5:00pm.

Parade Route: The parade begins at First and School and travels East (the “wrong” way) up First. This year’s parade will end at COPIA, where Santa will be waiting inside--everyone is invited to come in and enjoy the Holiday celebration! FREE ADMISSION.

Candy Tossing: Tossing candy or other wrapped treats to parade watchers is encouraged. If possible, have walkers who can “hand out” treats to avoid children scrambling for thrown items.

Adult supervision: All entries that include minors are required to have adults present to assist with setup and supervision of children.

Decorating tips:

With the evening timing of the parade, we suggest and encourage using lights to decorate your float.

This year’s theme is “Nutcracker Sweets. Any decorations that lend themselves toward this theme are encouraged.

Please, ONLY ONE Santa can appear in the parade. The Parade Organizers have arranged for Santa’s appearance. Santa will be available to talk to children in the lobby of COPIA after the Parade.

Entry Fee: Entry in the parade is FREE for all participants.

Judging: Prizes will be awarded in the following Categories:

Most or Best use of Lights$500

Pre-Parade Activities (4:00-5:00PM): Glow sticks will be distributed to children along the parade route. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be served throughout the parade. On-street entertainment begins at 4 PM.

After Parade Activities (6:00-8:00pm): Visit Santa in the lobby of COPIA and enjoy the many Holiday activities there. COPIA will be FREE to public all-day and open in the evening: 10:00am-8:00pm.
