Purpose / People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare to transport explosive ordnance and associated components; and transport and unload explosive ordnance and associated components.

Explanatory notes

All tasks are to be carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures, the enterprise being the organisation carrying out the work. Enterprise procedures referred to in this unit standard are the applicable procedures found in the following:enterprise exposition and armament management manuals;Government and local body legislation;airworthiness authority requirements.

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Prepare to transport explosive ordnance and associated components.

Evidence requirements

1.1Documentation is processed in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangepacking notes, despatch documentation, waybills, quantities reconciled, types confirmed, hazard divisions complied with, numbers of containers reconciled, seals checked, transport vehicle placard matched with container markings.

1.2Explosive ordnance and associated components are prepared for transportation in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – palletised, banded and restrained, labelled, weight restrictions complied with, compatibility of hazard divisions checked, safety devices fitted.

1.3Explosive ordnance and associated components are loaded onto transport in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – lifting equipment and vehicle operation, load distribution, fire-fighting equipment positioned, emergency notification procedures followed, load secured.

1.4Transport is prepared in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangedangerous goods procedures followed, driver authorised, attendants and/or escort vehicles arranged if required.

1.5Any non-compliance is reported and documented in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – transportation, servicing, issues, receipts, inspections, security, stock, crew authority and certification.

Outcome 2

Transport and unload explosive ordnance and associated components.

Evidence requirements

2.1Explosive ordnance and associated components are transported in accordance with enterprise procedures and relevant legislation.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – position escort vehicles if required, check attendant’s license if attendant required, comply with dangerous goods requirements, maintain vehicle speed, adhere to route, maintain clearances between vehicles, position and space vehicles with trailers, ensure fire-fighting equipment and documented procedures for weapon type are on standby.

2.2Explosive ordnance and associated components are unloaded from transport in accordance with enterprise procedures.
