WE’RE OFF TO A GREAT START!

Greetings!

We have completed our first semester and off to a fantastic start moving into the final stretch. As we come to the end of the first week, I have noticed trends that both positively and negatively impact student achievement.

Positive: Students have ownership of their data and staying abreast of their progress. They are advocating for themselves when there is confusion or misunderstandings about content.

Areas of Development: Homework and remaining for AE continues to be an issue. Scholars are not permitted to re-do or make up homework if they were present for the assignment. These “zeros” are causing them to not only miss out on opportunities for practice, but also causing many to earn failing grades.

Look closely at your scholar’s progress report to see if there are missing assignments or unexplained “zeros”. If you have any questions, please contact the teacher and if needed, arrange for a conference with the teacher and the AP of Academics.

URGENT NOTICE

Medicine

Effective immediately, all prescription medications are to be brought in by an adult. The parent/guardian must bring the medication to Nurse Mimms so that she has a clear understanding of the dosage and any additional information.

Uniform Compliance

As a Tindley parent, I completely understand the cost that is associated with the student uniform, however we cannot permit scholars to walk around in sweaters/ other articles that are ripped, torn or frayed. If a scholar’s sweater or bucks have significant holes in them, they will receive a uniform infraction notice with a specified date in which to have the item replaced. It is not our intention to inconvenience you, but we must maintain the integrity of the uniform. The Tindley uniform is one that is a depiction of pride and professionalism.

National Junior Honor Society

Congratulations to the following 6th-8th grade scholars who have been awarded membership into the National Junior Honor Society! Each of these scholars has maintained a 3.5 or better GPA for the first semester and received affirmations from the staff regarding their adherence to the 10 Essentials on a consistent basis.
