Purpose of 4-H Advisor Committee:

The 4‐H and Youth Advisory Board serves a strategic function by helping the County

Extension Agents++ determine what programs should be implemented from year to year, reviewing the educational impacts of programs, determining how to reach new youth audiences, and helping decide whether task forces or coalitions are needed to address priority issues.

Time commitment: This committee will meet face to face twice, annually. Members will serve 1-3 years terms (term years will be drawn). Additional meetings may be conducted via technology resources.

Make-up of Committee Membership

· All applications will be reviewed by an outside panel of judges.

· Up to five (5) youth (current Travis County 4-H members) will be selected to serve on the advisory committee from a wide array portion of the county.

· Up to five (5) youth from the urban 4-H programs will be selected to serve on the advisory committee.

· Up to six (six) adults will be selected to serve on the advisory committee. Adult stake holders of the urban and community organized programs will be selected via application.

Cooperative efforts of Travis County and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service have made the Travis County 4-H program possible. Educational programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin. The Texas A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating.
