3rd TERM NEWSLETTER

  • IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR

We’re now in the middle of the term and we’re all in full swing of learning and growing. As the fourth term draws upon us very quickly, we want to take a few minutes to remind our parents and learners a few things:

  1. This 3rd term is to prepare you for what’s to come in the 4th term – the final exam. Your results for the 4th term will indicate your position for 2018. You must ask yourself, where do you see yourself in the next year? In what grade do you see yourself at school? As nerve wrecking as that sounds, we suggest that if you can give this term your utmost best then your 4th term will be easier to not just achieve but to conquer with astounding results. This term is your practice shot and your 4th term is your home run. You need to master your practice shot in order to be victorious in the home run.
  2. Homework is important! Homework is not just a recap of the day’s work, but it’s an insight to see where your weak spots are from that day’s work. In other words, it is to see how much of the topic you understand. Identifying and acknowledging your weak spots is one of the ways you master your practice shot. Be diligent with it. You’ll be grateful you did.
  3. Play is important. We all as humans need a work-life balance. As scholars you also need a school-play balance. Play, which is important to a child’s neurological development, helps children gain healthy emotional development because it allows them to express their conscious and unconscious experiences regarding their feelings about their life and things that are going on around them.

Parents, this is the term where your child’s hard work will pay off. Please ensure that their meals are healthy and you are giving them ample time overseeing their work. Learning isn’t only within the classroom walls.

  • SCHOOL TERMS FOR 2017

  • REMAIN UPDATED

On our registration forms we have asked that you please provide the school with your direct contact details. The reason we ask parents of this is in cases of emergencies as the school cannot be held liable for care given to a learner if the school is unable to reach the parent due to incorrect contact details. We thus urge you to please keep the school updated if there is a change in any of your details, be it a change in cellphone numbers, physical address or employment, etc. Please keep your records updated to avoid any possible setbacks in the future.

  • NEW REGISTRATIONS

Please note that registrations for next year are now opened. Please spread the word by sharing this exciting news to all your friends and families with kids. We thank you for your assistance in advance.

  • BIRTHDAYS

To all our learners, parents and SAIS staff who celebrate their birthdays between July and September, a very happy birthday to you from all of us at SAIS. May your year and days ahead be blessed with abundance of all things enriching. Learners are allowed to use casual clothes ON the day of their birthday only.

  • HAPPY WOMAN’S MONTH!

Happy Women’s month to all of our ladies in South Africa.

  • PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN THIS TERM AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE IN OUR COUNTRY:

International women’s day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. Across the world Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th. Here in South Africa we celebrate National Women’s Day on August 9th.

National Women’s Day in South Africa draws attention to significant issues South African women still face, such as parenting, domestic violence, sexual harassment in the workplace, unequal pay, and schooling for all girls. It can be used as a day to fight for these ideas. Due to this public holiday, there have been many significant advances. Before 1994, women had low representation in the parliament, only at 2,7%. Women in the national assembly were at 27,7%. This number has nearly doubled, being at 48% representation throughout the country’s government. National Women’s Day is based around much of the same principles as International Women’s Day, and strives for much of the same freedoms and rights.
