What an 18 year-old should know – due Jan, 30th

Come up with 15 to 20 skills all 18 year-olds should be able to do. Try to be as specific as you can. For instance, “repair a car” is too general. Be able to change a tire, check oil and tires, and get your car proper basic maintenance is more specific. These DO NOT all need to be academic skills. Consult with elders to help you with the project. It will be graded based on the quality (well explained, variety) of your work, not just the number of skills you decided.

MASK

Decorate your mask to reflect your own personality. This could involve events that occurred in your past that affected the development of your personality. It could mean present concerns or future events. You can focus on your own cluster of personality traits that set you apart from others. You can focus on preferences, favorite activities, colors, friends, fears, etc.

This project needs to be your best work, reflecting thought. I do not care if you are an artist or not. This will be graded on completion, neatness, and quality of ideas.

You can paint it, use a variety of materials such as ribbons, sequins, beads, feathers, dried flowers, magazine pictures, etc. You need not purchase anything to decorate your masks. Look for items around the house.

At the end of the unit on personality theory, you are required to bring your mask to school along with a half page description of how the ideas, symbols, pictures, colors, materials you used reflect you personality.

The outer mask represents your personality, the inner mask can represent the “inner” you. This does not need to be seen or described by anyone.
