3rd Grade Classroom Times

February 2, 2015

Announcements:

*We will be celebrating National Pancake Day next Monday. If any parent would like to donate a box of pancake mix or bottle of syrup, it would be greatly appreciated!

*Book orders will be due on Friday, February 13th. Thank you!

*It’s that time of year again! In the case that we would miss school due to flu, floods, or flurries…anything that is due, or test that is scheduled, will be due or given on the first day that we return. This also means that if a test is scheduled for 2 school days away, and we miss 5 days of school, the test will still be within the next 2 school days. Please keep studying, reading, and memorizing those multiplication facts over any missed days. Fingers crossed that we don’t miss many!

*This week we are memorizing our 6’s multiplication facts. If your child did not pass their 5’s last week, they need to pass 5’s and 6’s this week! If your child has not passed their 2’s or 3’s, they will sit part of recess and write them. If you are more than 2 weeks behind on learning your facts, you must practice during recess. Memorizing our facts is a requirement.

*P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please help your child to remember to wear appropriate shoes on these days. 

*We will be having homework when I feel it is needed. It will be written in the agenda books and usually come home in a folder. Even though your child does not have written homework each night, they DO have homework. Each child should be reading in their reading book for at least 15 minutes each evening, as well as, studying spelling and vocabulary each night.

*Spelling, reading, grammar, and vocabulary tests will be on Fridays. The words are listed in this newsletter.

*EVERY child will be required to take and pass 2 AR tests a week. This will be part of their reading grade. Only passing one test will get you a 50% grade for the week. Students have 15 minutes of AR time each day, in addition to any spare time they may have during the day.

*We will be doing automaticity math each morning (timed test on math facts).

*Our Classroom Times has gone viral!! You can find us on the Greenup County Website. Just click schools-Argillite Elementary-Staff-3rd Grade A. Collins-Weekly Classroom Times.

*We write CTIC on the top of our papers when we have done a paper

together in class. This lets you know that the answers were given to

the students, and not done independently. CTIC= Completed Together In Class.

*Classroom newsletters always go home on Mondays.

*Please do not forget to check, sign, and return agenda books

each evening. Any agenda book not signed gets marked with a NS – for not signed. Thank you. 

*Remember, you may pack a drink each day for snack. We will not be eating at snack.
