ABDPH Director-Elect Nominee DEADLINE: 12/31/2016

ABDPH Director-Elect Nominee DEADLINE: 12/31/2016

The directors of the ABDPH have recently modified the ABDPH by-laws related to the selection of the Director-Elect. Under the new by-laws (see below), any Diplomate interested in serving on the ABDPH (“Nominee”) should submit an application, which will stay active for a total of three years. A Nominee can withdraw his/her name from the selection process before the end of three years. In order to do so, he/she must notify the Executive-Director, ABDPH no later than January 1, of the year he/she does not want to be considered. Nominees must be in good standing with the Board and should have at least five years experience as an ABDPH Diplomate. Diplomates are encouraged to identify potential nominees but the Nominee must complete the application and agree to serve on the Board.

A committee consisting of two current directors of the ABDPH, and two full member Diplomates appointed by AAPHD, will serve as the ABDPH Director-Elect Nominating Committee. The committee will review all Nominees and will determine a slate of two (2) or more candidates for the Director-Elect position. All active Diplomates, in good standing will be eligible to vote electronically from the slate of candidates. The voting will take place no later than March 15th of each year.

The ABDPH Director-Elect Nominating Committee should reflect the scope of dental public health practice. A balance of talents and competencies across the four main areas of dental public health—administration, service delivery, health promotion, and research—are desired. The committee will therefore use the following when considering the slate of candidates for Director-Elect:

1.  Employment history (e.g., Federal, state, or local health agency; government; academia; private sector)

2.  Type(s) of job responsibilities (e.g., administration, teaching, consulting, research, patient care)

3.  Educational background (e.g., institutions from which the candidate earned his or her dental and public health training and where the candidate completed his or her residency program)

4.  Demographic information (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, current geographic location).
