2014 Course Syllabus Ms. Bruner Rm # 200

3D Studio Art I, II, Comprehensive Art, and Portfolio

Course Description: The emphasis of 3D Art is to explore your creativity and to think outside the box. Beginners and experienced artists alike are welcome! You will work independently and in groups to create sculptures using clay, cardboard, paper, found materials, etc.

Classroom Rules: We will discuss in great detail, but we follow all school rules; Be inside the room when the bell rings; Place artwork & belongings in designated areas; Keep Hats & Electronics off and out of sight; Clean Tables and Return supplies at the end of period; Wait at your tables, not the door, to be dismissed.

Course Goal: Projects and sketchbook assignments have been designed to promote the understanding and usage of the elements and principles in the creation of student artwork while developing appropriate levels of technical skills, vocabulary, tools & concepts.

Student Projects and Sketchbook Assignments: explanations and criteria will be documented in sketchbooks so students and their families can be aware of current coursework at all times. Projects can last between 2-4 weeks with supportive sketchbook assignments being completed. Since the majority of the projects will be done in class, if a student is absent for at least half of a project an alternative assignment will take place of the project (ex. a paper on a relative artist).

EQ Logs and Tracking Progress: students will be held accountable to keep up with their grades, rubrics, and tracking their class progress daily.

11th ANNUAL ALL-COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ART SHOW takes place in March. Only eight pieces of artwork may be submitted from PMHS’ 3D courses. There will be a 1st-3rd place award given out for each category, i.e. 3D Art, Ceramics, Drawing... This is a great opportunity for students to show off their work and to see what other students are doing in the county. I will give students more information in class!

Open Studio Time: Studio 200, my room, will be open between 8:30 - 9:15 each morning. Come in and work.

Grading: Our class grades are out of total points.

Please keep in mind..**This year 3D Art will have an EOC administered from the district, this will be 20% of your final grade. The remaining 80% will be made up with your four quarter class grade.**

Keep all of your graded material until after you receive your official grade report!
