Samsung and the British Museumwere among the eight award winners at last night’s 35th Arts & Business Awards in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover.

Taking home the BP A&B Long-term Partnership Award, the partnershipwas recognised for expressing collaborative, long-term, sustainable approaches where there were clearly established business benefits working alongside the arts organisation. The project was a brilliant, fascinating and pioneering partnership way beyond the usual steps of product concept and brand building.

Andy Griffiths, Managing Director at Samsung UK & Ireland

"This exciting partnership and the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre at the British Museum, is part of our wider Digital Classroom initiative, which inspires young people to unlock their learning potential through the use of technology. The British Museum has been at the forefront of innovating digital learning and we are excited to see where the future will take us."

Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum said:

“The Museum is delighted with our long-standing partnership with Samsung. Samsung’s world-leading technology enables us to be at the forefront of digital education, with a programme that is enhanced year on year. Families and schoolchildren of all ages have found these superb digital tools irresistible, and for us they have become indispensable in opening up and encouraging active engagement with our vast and varied collection."

At this special anniversary awards ceremony at the BFI Southbank eight awards were presented to the very best arts and business partnerships.

Presented by British broadcaster, Margherita Taylor, the awards were attended by over 400 leaders in business and the arts and saw performances from violinist, Jennifer Pike, jazz ensemble, Brass Jaw and Alpha-Ville artist, Alba G Corral.

Jonathan Tuchner, Deputy Director of Arts & Business, said: “We must always celebrate the remarkable insight and energy of businesses engaging and inspiring the arts across England. These businesses do not receive the recognition or the plaudits they deserve. The arts are in a much richer place due to the long term commitment and support of business and we believe these collaborations can continue to go from strength to strength. This year’s entries were incredibly strong and the winners are superb examples of how business and the arts can work well together for the good of both.”

Culture Secretary,SajidJavid, said:“The winners of these awards are innovative partnerships that are not only inspiring cultural success, but unlocking the huge economic potential of the UK’s art and culture sectors too. These winning partnerships are shining examples of the success that arts and business collaborations can bring to projects across the country.”

Helen Goodman Shadow Minister for Culture added: "I'm delighted to congratulate the winners of the arts and business awards. The variety of events and projects supported across the country demonstrates how fruitful such partnerships can be. The Mallard came to Locomotion in my constituency and I can vouch for the value to local communities too."
