31st NATIONAL AGE-GROUP CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014

OPEN: Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-20,

GIRLS: Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14.

1. Organizer:

This event is organized by the Singapore Chess Federation and will be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess.

2. Eligibility:

Open to all juniors (born in 1994 or after).

Open Under-20 Category is open to Under-14 & Above. Minimum of SCF Grade C required for Under-14 participants.

4. Time Control and Format:

4.1 Pairing: Total 8 Rounds. Individual Swiss using Swiss Manager Unicode. Zero-Start shall be applied.

4.2 Rating: This is a FIDE-rated event.

4.3 Rate of play: 90 minutes per player, without time increment (standard chess).

4.4 Recording of moves: In the course of play, each player is required to record his own moves and those of his opponent in the correct manner. Both players must record the offer of a draw on the score sheet. Players not recording moves shall have no right of claim in a dispute.

4.5 Tie-breaks: In the case of a game point tie for first place, a playoff shall be played immediately between the two highest placed players based on tie-breaks. The playoff shall be conducted under 5-minute FIDE Laws of Blitz Chess, and in the case of further tie, the player with the higher tie-break is declared the winner. In case of a further tie and ties for all other positions, WP (Buchholz), SB (Sonneborn-Berger) and PS (Progressive Score) shall be used in this order.

5. Categories:

There are 9 categories (age as at 1st January 2014): Open & Girls Under-8, Under-10, Under-12 & Under-14 and Open Under-20 Category. The SCF reserves the right to merge categories which have less than 10 players.

6. Prizes:

Prizes shall be awarded to the Top 10 participants in each category.

Additional medals shall be given to all Young Talents (Under-6: born in 2008 or after)

7. Entry Fee: S$50 (All Players)

8. Registration & Closing Date:

Entry must be submitted in the attached registration form with full payment to the SCF.

Limited to first 400 entries on or before 28 November 2014 by 1800 hours.

Late surcharge of S$50.00 will be imposed for entries AFTER28 November 2014, subjected to the acceptance of SCF.

9. Tournament & Playing Venue:

9.1 The Open/Girls Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14categories will be held at:

10. Qualification for the SCF National Squads Training:

This event qualifies eligible players for the National Junior Squad. SCF Selection & Training Guidelines 2014 shall apply.

11. Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) as Organizer:

11.1 The SCF has the right to accept or reject entries without assigning any reason.

11.2 Organizer’s decisions on any protest made, other than on Arbiter’s decisions, are final.

12. Entry Fees are transferred to the Singapore Chess Federation. All bank commissions must be paid by the sender.
