Spring Research Forum

30-Day Call for Research Ideas

Fiscal Year 2009

Effective March 18-April 18, 2007

Following the spring research forum, MoDOT will be accepting research statements for the fiscal year 2009 research program. A research statement is a research need that could be expected to result in clear, actionable solutions or innovations to address Missouri transportation issues and needs. The emphasis with these statements should be on the idea or problems to be addressed and not proposed solutions.

Research statements must address one of the following emphasis areas:

o  Freight Development

o  Intermodal Development

o  Funding, Finance and Economic Development

Process:

  1. The author will complete all seven areas of the attached research statement form and submit it electronically within the acceptance period. Proposals should be limited to a maximum of two pages.
  2. MoDOT’s acceptance period for this special call for research statements will be March 18 – April 18, 2008.
  3. MoDOT staff will review the research statement and determine its impact on MoDOT’s Tangible Results.
  4. If MoDOT managers choose the research statement as a priority, a problem or needs statement will be prepared and issued as a formal Request for Proposals.
  5. The status of all submittals will be acknowledged via e-mail by May 30, 2008.

Note: Missouri’s Sunshine Law requires MoDOT to share, upon request, the entire contents of statements. Protecting proprietary information will be the responsibility of the submitter.

The blue italic text on the following template provides additional guidance in completing the research statement form. Replace the blue italic text with your narrative.
