3 questions to Mr Daniel Danciu, chief executive officer of Ez-ID

Mr Danciu, as Chief Executive Officer of Ez-ID (Safran group) in Florida. Could you give us a description of this company and an outline of its scope of activities?

Ez-ID is a subsidiary of both Sagem Securité (Safran group), our head office in France, and of MorphoTrack, its American subsidiary based in WashingtonD.C.

Contrary to MorphoTrak whose main mission is to provide products and solutions in the field of biometric identification to Federal or governmental Departments, Ez-ID has its sights on the market of small or medium-sized firms. The range of our prospective customers consists in companies employing from one to five hundred people where the cycles of decision-making are short.

We are aware of our position as world leader in the field of biometrics, and Ez-ID relies on the expertise, technology and know-how of Sagem Sécurité to offer its customers solutions for access control based on the identification of fingerprints. Our 25 years of experience in this area of high technology make it possible for us to offer solutions of an extremely high degree of reliability as well as competitive prices due to our very large production capacities.

In a nutshell our activity could be expressed in these terms: give a pledge to well-defined persons that they will be guaranteed reliable and secure access to premises thanks to a unique and tamper-proof identifier: the fingerprint.

How long have you been set up in Florida? Why did you choose to come here?

The set up of Ez-ID dates back to late 2007.

We are therefore a young firm, a Start-up. Why Florida and not New Jersey, California or the industrial centers of the country (Detroit, Chicago…)? The studies carried out prior to the creation of Ez-ID have shown that Florida, contrary to accepted clichés, accommodates over half a million small and medium-sized firms typically matching our market target. A large majority of them are located in Florida (Miami Dade, BrowardCounty, West Palm Beach), the rest are split between Tampa and Orlando, where the next stages of our further development will take place.

What is the general trend in your field of activity? What are the prospects?

The general trend of our field of activity looks good, not to say very good.

The security of people, premises and sensitive data is an everyday concern for company heads and managers.

Our systems which come as a complement to the alarm systems produced by the big American providers eliminate the drawbacks still found among our competitors. Indeed, keys or badges may well be lost, stolen or duplicated. As far as keypad access doors are concerned, we all know that the codes can easily be compromised.

Offering products which are traceable, safe and reliable, together with a guarantee that they are unique and reasonably priced for all, including private customers, allow us to foresee a double-digit rate of growth for years to come.

The system that we have devised and the way to use it have proved to be very successful because they are simple and based on biometric technology. The financial upheavals of these last months have naturally had an impact on our development but we shall soon come to the end of the tunnel and Ez-ID remains optimistic about its prospects for 2010 and 2011.
