Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does Infrared Heating work?

Electric infrared heaters operate at the same wavelengths as sunlight along the electromagnetic spectrum

 simple explanation: "On a bright sunny day on a snow-covered mountain, why do you feel warm when you step into the sunlight despite a cold surrounding environment?"

Infrared heat is essentially the most efficient form of heat energy transfer because infrared heating works by heating people and objects within a space (heats evenly and more efficiently). Traditional heating systems (convection heating) work by heating the "air." Infrared heating permeates (passes through) air molecules, resulting in a more efficient and ultimately cheaper method to heat both indoors and outdoors.

***Note: This means the wind cannot "blow" heat away. Air movement of any kind has no effect on the heated area. The non-effect of wind is a strong selling point regarding the technology itself***

2. Can I mount my heaters outdoors?

Yes. Our heaters are all rated IPX4 (safe from splashing water for cleaning etc. but not “waterproof”)

3. Can eRAD heaters be installed indoors?

Yes. Very effective indoors.

4. How do I control my eRAD heater?

All heaters come equipped with a remote control for easy use. The remote comes with a "timer" function setting ( 2, 4, and 8 hrs) for automatic shutoff, increasing operating efficiency and electricity savings. Also, there are four power settings (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%)

5. What are eRAD heaters made of?

Anodized aluminum alloy body with a black ceramic surface.

6. Is infrared heating cheaper than gas or propane heating?

Operating costs vary by region. Nationwide, electric heaters are less expensive than propane, and are competitive with natural gas. Depending upon the total hours of usage, electric heaters normally have a much lower cost of ownership when factoring in purchase price and maintenance needs. Basically, this means that while it can cost more per hour to operate an electric unit in some areas, it typically takes 7-10 years to save enough money operating on gas to recover the substantially higher purchase price-not to mention cost of regular maintenance for a gas heater.

7. How do the models connect to power?

eRAD15R is currently the only model that has a 90 degree, three prong plug for 110-120 volt applications. This model can also be hardwired. The other three models, eRAD18R,eRAD24R, eRAD32R will have a pig tail on the end to either have a 220volt plug added or to be hardwired.
