Slouchy Beanie
3/15 yarn; Standard gauge machine; Tension 7
· E-wrap cast on 63L x 62 R main bed with main yarn
· Tension 7
· K 1 row to left; hang comb and weights
· Knit 4 more rows or equal to ½ inch
· Transfer to a 2 x 2 rib on ribber – Tension 5
· Knit 30 rows ribbing or about 3 inches -end on right
· Cover ribber; remove weights and comb
· Take knitting off on garter bar or waste yarn, turn knitting (so first 5 rows will roll to outside) and rehang stitches
· Keep in latches as knitting hangs in front of ribber – weight slightly to keep knitting in latches
· Carefully move all needles back to B position
· Remove weights and move knitting behind ribber
· Re- weight
· Take off and move carriage over to left side of machine and rethread with main yarn
· Tension 7
· Keep outside of turn mark for electronic
· Turn on machine and select pattern or insert punch card – tuck pattern
· Turn knob KC
· Move left to right to select N
· Push in tuck buttons and engage punch card if using
· Knit 80 – 90 rows or approx. 8 or 9 inches
· Remove patterning
· K 1 row
· Move every other stitch to one next to it and push empty needles back to A position
· Tension 4 -5
· Knit 10 rows or approx. 1 inch
· Leave long tail of yarn and thread onto a tapestry needle and take stitches off
· Stitch side up on sewing machine with a 1/8th seam so patterning will show when hat is turned right side out. Pull top tight and stitch down to inside of hat.
