Dear Prospective Student,
High school graduation is not far off and you’ve probably started thinking about what you’re going to do after high school. Have you thought about all the possible options available to you? Did college ever cross your mind? If so, do you want to find out if going to a University, Cal State, or Junior College is for you? Would you like help on tackling your college application, especially your personal statement? Do you want to get an idea of what it feels like to be a college student? Do you want to learn all this without having to pay for it? If any of these apply to you, come to Vietnamese Student Union’s 25th Annual HOPE High School Conference.
Vietnamese Student Union is proud to announce the 2009 HOPE High School Conference at UCLA on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. This is a free event with free food and local transportation. You don’t have to be Vietnamese to apply. This year, weare gathering 200 high school students and youth like you all across California to promote the importance of higher education, learn all options and routes to achieving it, and have fun along the way.
The day will be filled with workshops that will help you prepare for college. Topics will range from how to apply for financial aid, which form of higher education is for you, what you should be doing in high school now, what major or career is for you, why education is such a powerful tool, and more. There will also be a tour of our beautiful campus so you can familiarize yourself with the environment. In addition, there will be current college students as well as alumni present so you can ask them any questions you might have about student life.
If you are interested, please fill out the application along with the permission form and liability form. Make sure to have your parent or guardian’s signature. Remember to turn in your application as soon as possible because this is a selective process based on time of submission and on who will benefit most from the event. Lastly, the due date is (as listed above) February 23, 2009.

Kính chào bạn,
Ngày tốt nghiệp trung học không còn xa, có thể bạn đã nghĩ sẽ làm gì sau khi tốt nghiệp. Bạn có nghĩ đến những chọn lựa nào thích hợp cho tương lai? Đại học có bao giờ nằm trong tằm mắt của bạn? Nếu có, bạn có muốn biết đại học 4 năm (UC, CSU) hoặc 2 năm cộng đồng thích hợp với bạn không? Bạn có muốn được sự giúp đở điền đơn đại học và quan trọng hơn nữa là mấy bài văn vào đại học? Bạn có muốn biết cảm giác là một sinh viên đại học như thế nào không? Bạn có muốn học hỏi những điều ở trên mà không tốn tiền gì hết? Nếu những điều trên phù hợp với bạn thì mời bạn đến tham dự cuộc họp trung học hàng năm của HOPE, Hội Sinh Viên Việt Nam.
Hội Sinh Viên Việt Nam hân hạnh thông báo cuộc họp trung học của HOPE, Hội Sinh Viên Việt Nam tại đại học UCLA vào Thứ Bảy, Ngày 7 Tháng 3, Năm 2009, từ 7:00 sáng đến 7:00 giờ chiều. Chương trình nầy được miễn phí bao gồm thực phẩm và có xe đưa đến trường UCLA. Năm nay, HOPE sẽ tập trung khoảng 200 học sinh trung học từ khắp nơi trong tiểu bang California để khuyến khích sự quan trọng của học tập với những chọn lựa khác nhau dẫn đến sự thành công và được vui trên con đường chọn lựa.
Nguyên một ngày sẽ gồm có nhiều đề tài khác nhau để chuẩn bị cho bạn về đại học. Những đề tài gồm có làm thế nào để xin trợ giúp về tài chánh hoặc học bổng, đại học nào hợp với bạn, cần phải làm gì khi ở trung học, ngành nghề, sức mạnh của học tập, và nhiều nữa. Bạn sẽ có dịp thăm viếng trường đại học UCLA để quen thuộc môi trường xung quanh. Cộng thêm nữa, bạn sẽ được gặp các anh chị hiện đang học đại học và đã ra trường để trả lời những câu hỏi mà bạn có.
Nếu bạn muốn tham dự chương trình, xin điền vào mẫu đơn với tờ giấy có sự cho phép cọng với chử ký của cha mẹ hoặc người giám hộ. Bạn nhớ nộp đơn càng sớm càng tốt bởi vì quá trình tuyển chọn sẽ tùy vào chương trình có lợi ích cho bạn nào nộp đơn sớm. Sau cùng, ngày cuối cùng nộp đơn là Ngày 23 Tháng 2, Năm 2009.

INFORMED CONSENT, RELEASE, AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY
EVENT: HOPE High School Conference 2009

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: The day will be filled with workshops that will help you prepare for college. I, the undersigned, or in the event the undersigned is under 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian of the undersigned, recognize that participation in the referenced activity is strictly voluntary.
I, the undersigned, for and in consideration of the request and permission to participate in the referenced activity, hereby assume the full responsibility for all risk injury or loss, including death, which may result from my participation in this activity and hereby agree to hold harmless, release, waiver, forever discharge and covenant not to sue or bring claim against the Regents of the University of California, the above named student organization, or their agents or employees, by reason of any accident, illness, injury or death, or damage to or loss or destruction of any property arising or resulting directly for my participation in the referenced activity and occurring during said participation, or any time subsequent thereto, whether or not such loss, injury, or death is caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligent acts or omissions of the Regents of the University of California, the above named student organization, their officers, agents or employees. The terms of this release shall serve as a release and assumption of risk for my heirs, executors, administrators, and for all my family members.
