Dear Parents and Guardians:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your child to the 2016-2017 school year. As the building principal at the CatherineE.DoyleSchool, I am most excited to meet and greet all of my returning and new students and their families. The beginning of a new school year is always filled with great promise and excitement, and our staff at the DoyleSchool will do everything that we can to fulfill these high expectations!
I know that the return to school can produce a diverse range of emotions in children. Some will be filled with excitement while others present anxiety. Please be assured that these responses, in any combination, are not unusual. As individuals, we all respond to change differently and while school may be a familiar place to you and your child, each year is accompanied by the anticipation of new experiences. What is most important is that your child senses your support and the willingness of the school to consider their particular needs. Be sure to articulate that message to your child and to highlight the positive elements of membership in the school community.
On Friday, September 9th, the students at Doyle will participate in a memorial service to remember all those who perished in the 9-11 attacks. We will meet by the flagpole at 9am, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, we will conduct our ceremony in the All-Purpose Room. Please have your child dress in red, white and blue on that day to show patriotism and support for the troops still overseas.
Please remember that education is a joint effort between the students, parents, and staff. We urge you to join the PTA. The cost is $6.00 per person and should be sent in an envelope addressed as “PTA Membership”.

Please complete these forms and return to the Main Office no later than Friday September 16, 2016.
To ensure our students arrive to school safely, please remain cognizant of the traffic patterns around the school block in the morning. Please do not park in the “Drop-off” zones and make sure your child is on the sidewalk before pulling away from the curb. Please note that parents/school visitors may not access the two staff parking lots in the front of the school building.
Please be advised that the Wood-Ridge Board of Education has authorized the assignment of staff members at the Doyle School to supervise studentswho require an early “drop off”. Students being dropped off between the hours of 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM can enter the school to be supervised by a designated staff member in a classroom. Any families wishing to participate in this program must have their child enter the school via the main entrance between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM in order to be supervised in the building. All other students may enter the school building beginning at 8:00 AM where they will be supervised by a staff member.
We look forward to meeting you again on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:45pm for our Back-to-School Night, and until that time I offer best wishes in the new school year and please enjoy the remainder of the summer.
