Pupil Activities
Senior Gala on 3 March. We are so proud of all our St Martin’s Jellicoe children, parents, staff and coaches! We are the 2018 Gala Champions! Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making this an amazing day. Our children looked beautiful in their yellow T-shirts and we owned the stands in respect of behaviour and attendance. We could not have done this without the support of parents, guardians and our other supporters. The Chess Club will be playing their first away match at St Mary’s in Waverley on 15 March. Please return the permission slip if your child will be participating.
The Public SpeakingClub for the Intersen Phase will start soon under the guidance of Sir Thato. We are excited to see our children in action in this regard!
We have completed most of the assessments for the term, and teachers are hard at work to tally marks and complete reports. Some parents may be contacted in the next week to come to school for a meeting prior to the parents meeting to discuss their child’s progress, as it will be difficult to have in depth discussions on the morning when reports are being handed out. ______
Parent Parnership
Thank you to all our parents who attended the AGM on 10 March. We also had great repsonse from the Foundation Phase parents with reagards to our request to send eats along. Thanks a million!
Ms Mpumi Otieno-Oyola,ourCouncil representative for St Martin’s Jellicoe, was introduced to the assembly with the rest of the Vuleka Council members and attended her first Couincil meeting on Saturday.
A reminder to download and sign up with Class Dojo in order to get regular feedback about what is happening in the class, if you have not done so already.
Thanks to all the parents who already ordered T-shirts. The T-shirt are primarily meant to be used for Sports days like Derby Day and Athletics, but children may wear their yellow T-shirts with their school shorts on Wednesdays for the co-curricular programme.
Thank you to all our parents for their invaluable support in assisting their children with homework. Children always have reading, spelling, time tables and bonds to practice at home – So when a child claims there is has no homework, read, practice spelling and practice tables. The children will also receive some holiday homework during the last week of school. Please make sure they complete this and return it to school on he first day after the short holiday.
