Example 1: (the horse that pulls Newton’s carriage)
A horse is supposed to bring Newton to the Royal Academy of Sciences. But it denies service with the following argument: “I won’t pull. There’s no point. Newton’s 3rd law tells me that if I pull with 900N then the carriage will pull back with an equal and opposite force. This means the forces cancel out, so why should I pull?” Is the horse right?
