Explanatory notes

1 Definition

Workplace practice refers to the documented procedures specific to a workplace which set out the standard and required practices of that workplace.

Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995;

Building Act 2004;

New Zealand Building Code.

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Describe methods used to package and stack prefabricated timber products.

Evidence requirements

1.1 Methods of packing product and site fixings are described in accordance with workplace practice for prevention of product damage and for stable carriage.

Range safety, fillets and bearers, arrangements for long and short lengths, flush-ends, corner protection.

1.2 Methods of wrapping and strapping products are described in accordance with workplace practice.

Range corner protection, wrapping methods and materials.

1.3 Methods of labelling products are described in accordance with workplace practice.

Range labelling details, labelling methods.

1.4 Methods of stacking prefabricated timber products are described in accordance with workplace practice.

1.5 Reasons for stacking order of prefabricated timber products are explained in terms of safe carriage and building sequence on site.

Outcome 2

Package prefabricated timber products and site fixings.

Evidence requirements

2.1 Products and site fixings are packaged in accordance with workplace practice for prevention of product damage and for stable carriage.

2.2 Pack sizes conform to workplace practice and job requirements.

2.3 Products are wrapped and strapped in accordance with workplace practice.

Range safety, fillets and bearers, arrangements for long and short lengths, flush-ends, corner protection, wrapping methods and materials.

2.4 Products are labelled in accordance with workplace practice.

Range labelling details, labelling methods.

2.5 Orders are completed within given time-frames and documentation is completed in accordance with workplace practice.

Outcome 3

Stack prefabricated timber products.

Evidence requirements

3.1 Packaged products are stacked in accordance with workplace practice for location within the workplace.

3.2 Stack heights conform to workplace practice for safety and access.

3.3 Stacks meet workplace practice for order of loading and access for lifting equipment.
