A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
This week we welcome our new second grade teacher, Sara Bruce, to the building. She is replacing Mrs. Herrmann in second grade. Mrs. Bruce has 15 years’ experience and just recently relocated to Rockford from Michigan.
February is Pennies for Pasta month. All classes are collecting change for The Leukemia Society. Students received collection boxes Tuesday. If you are collecting change in the cardboard boxes, they may need to be reinforced with tape to hold the change. Flyers were sent home also regarding the fundraiser. The class who donates the most change will win a free lunch from Olive Garden. Last year Carlson collected almost $2000.00! Thanks for your support in this effort.

Popcorn Fundraiser
Popcorn fundraiser forms will be sent home February 3rd. Please check backpacks and tell friends and family to place orders! The top seller will get a $50 gift card to Toys“R”Us! Three runners-up will get $10 Toys“R”Us gift cards. The order forms are due back at school Thursday, February 16th. Late order forms will not be accepted after Friday morning. Popcorn order pickup is Thursday, March 16th – the same day as the school art show.
Dinner Night Out
Our next Dinner Night Out is on Thursday, February 9that Potbelly Sandwich Shop on East State Street. Stop by between 4 and 8pm, and a percentage of the evening’s proceeds will go back to Carlson! Please visit and enjoy their great food. Remember to remind the cashier you’re with Carlson.
Movie Night
Mark your calendars for Carlson’s movie night – Friday, February 24th. The family-friendly movie will be shown in the gym/cafeteria area from approximately 6pm to 8pm. Details will be provided closer to the date.
As Always - Parent Parking Lot
Please do not block the handicap parking stalls when picking up or dropping off your children. Also, do not park in the handicap parking stalls unless you have handicap license plates or a handicap placard. Not only are we home to many special needs students at Carlson, but we also have many parents at Carlson that need access to these parking stalls. We appreciate your care in navigating the parking lot both in the morning and afternoon for the safety of all.
