2018Jessick Fund SCHOLARSHIP

The Jessick Fund will be offering two scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating seniors. One of these scholarships will be offered to the Cameron School District, and one will be offered to the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser District. A member(s) of the respective school districts will be involved in selection of the recipients.

The Jessick Scholarship Fund has been set up by Arnold Jessick to assist and encourage students to explore and enter the Machining or Welding fields. These are growing fields that are needed, yet are often overlooked. He wants to be sure that all students, particularly the ones that often do not have scholarship opportunities, have a chance to receive the education needed to further careers in these fields. It is also very important to realize the value of education and opportunities in the Barron County area, as Arnold's business was successful in part due to working with local businesses.

The scholarship may be used to assist in financing education and training for full-time students going into the Machine Tool (Operation, Technician, CNC) or Welding/Welding Fabrication programs at area Technical Schools– specifically, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College or Chippewa Valley Technical College.

The awards will be announced at the appropriate time after the students have been selected in April 2018. However, the financial award will not be given until January 2019, when the recipient provides the Jessick Fund with documents demonstrating that they have:

  1. - satisfactorily completed the first semester of the program,
  2. - shown documented enrollment in the second semester, and
  3. -provided a current mailing address.

The deadline for the return of the completed application is April 13th, 2018. Many factors will be taken into consideration in the selection process, including:

  • Communityservice and volunteered support and assistance to school programs
  • Demonstration of consistent integrity and good citizenship
  • Extra-curricular activities, sports, experience in cooperative study programs
  • Quality of application, including spelling, punctuation, clarity of presentation
  • Employment experience

The Cameron and Chetek-Weyerhaeuser School Districts extend an equal educational opportunity to all students. It is the policy of both districts pursuant to s.118.13, Wis. Stats., and P19, that no person on the basis of sex, race, national origin, ancestry, creed, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability, may be denied admission to school and be denied participation in any program.
