2018 PROM COURT ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS

1)  NO CO-CURRICULAR CODE VIOLATIONS

The student did not receive any co-curricular violations during his or her junior year.

The student did not receive any in-school suspensions or out-of-school suspensions

during his or her junior year. The student has not received any truancy notices or

citations during his or her junior year. The student did not engage in any activity or

behavior during high school that would deem him or her ineligible for Prom Court, as

decided by the Junior Class Advisors, Dean of Students, or Principals.

2)  2.0 GPA OR HIGHER

All juniors are eligible for prom court providing they meet the following qualifications.

They did not become academically ineligible (according to policy 2431) following 3rd

quarter grades. Any student who became ineligible at that time is automatically

eliminated from contention no matter when Prom is held.

3)  PRESENCE AT 80% OR MORE OF THE PROM

AND FLOAT BUILDING MEETINGS*

4)  PARTICIPATE IN THE DECORATION OF THE

FLOAT, BRING IN FLOAT BUILDING SUPPLIES OR MATERIALS AND/OR HELP DISMANTLE THE FLOAT AFTER THE PARADE*

5)  PARTICIPATE IN AT LEAST 1 FUNDRAISER OR

CONCESSIONS THIS YEAR

*It is understood that school absences for sickness will not be held against student participation. In addition, it is impossible for students to be in two places at one time. If sports practices or band rehearsal conflict with a meeting or float building, the student will be exempt from that activity. HOWEVER, this asterisk is not a reason to do nothing to fulfill that requirement. For example if one is both in band and sports and therefore is unable to help build or tear down the float, they are required to bring in tools or donate materials to help build the float in order to fulfill the float part of the eligibility requirements.

Prom Procedures

·  Prom Court will consist of seven couples. A couple is defined as one male junior student and one female junior student. If not enough students are eligible, other options will be considered including having fewer couples on Prom Court.

·  The entire junior class will vote to select the seven couples representing the junior class.

·  The entire junior class will vote to select one male king and one female queen after the seven Prom Court couples have been identified.

·  There will be one Prom Prince and one Prom Princess. The Prom Prince and Princess will be selected by students that serve on the Prom Committee. No preference for siblings or residency will be given. A majority vote by the committee will be the final decision.

·  A Prom Committee will meet from time to time with the Junior Class Advisor(s) to plan the details of Prom which include, but are not limited to: Colors, Theme, Song, Flowers, Decorations, song list for the DJ and other details associated with logistics. (Song list must be approved by Mr. Moody.)

·  The Junior Class President and Vice President will serve as Co-Chairs for the Prom Committee.

·  The Prom will be held in the Multi-Purpose Building.

·  All fines and fees must be cleared before a student is allowed to purchase a ticket to the Prom.

·  Students are allowed to bring dates that do not attend WAHS so long as the guest student’s Principal approves. Students may not bring a date that has been out of high school for more than two years.
