CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

1.The Championships will be conducted under the rules of Athletics Australia and the SSV unless otherwise stated.

2.Ages are calculated as at 31ST DECEMBER 2017

  1. Competitors may compete in only one age group for which they are eligible. They may, however, compete in an event in another age group for which they are eligible, it there is no "identical" event in their own age group. All hurdles events are "identical", as are all shot, discus and javelin events. Once a student has competed in an age group atDIVISIONlevel, they must remain in thatage group through toState Level.

12/13 yr and 14 yr walkers must compete in 15 yr events

4.Competitorsmay competein a maximum of FIVE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS and ONE RELAY.

5.Competitors must report to the marshalling area for their event at least 10 min. before the scheduled event time, or as directed over the P.A. system.

6.All competitors MUST wear their school colours.

7.Competitors must spikes or runners for all events. [ Bare foot running NOT permitted]

N.B.Competitors USING SPIKES must use 7mm CONED shaped spikes (NOT 6mm NEEDLE) for any track events and must use the starting blocks provided for all events less than 800m including the first relay leg. Spikes for Javelin must be 9mm to 12mm only.

Lanes will be constant for ALL events There will be no rotation of lanes for circular events.

NUMBER OF COMPETITORS PER EVENT

ONE competitor per event per school except 800m(2), 1500m(2), 3000m(3) and walks(2).

The Boys and Girls Walks and 1500m events will start together in each age group.

CLASH OF EVENTS

Sometimes students will have both a track event and a field event scheduled simultaneously. They must first report to the field event, then they must marshal for the track event. Competitors should return to their field event immediately at the conclusion of the track event to complete their 3 throws/jumps. In High Jump the competitor will enter/re-enter the event at the height at which the bar is set at the time of return.

SPECIAL NOTES

*All spectators should be in their allocated seating area to watch events.

*No student will be permitted to remain on the inside area of the track, including the jumping and throwing areas, unless they are:-

(a)Competing in an event at that time;

(b)Marshalling for an event;

(c)Acting as an Official's assistant.

Violation may lead to disqualification. (Referee's decision is final).

  • No student shall throw field event implements, or use the high jump pits unless directed to by an official field event supervisor. Violation may lead to disqualification.
  • NO STUDENTS OR COMPETITORS ARE TO SIT/ REST ON THE HIGH JUMP MATS.

NOTE: STUDENTS WHO BRINGFOOTBALLS, SOCCER BALLS, VORTEX OR SPORTS EQUIPMENT OF ANY DESCRIPTION WILL HAVE THEMCONFISCATEDAND THEY WILL ONLY BE RETURNED TO THE SCHOOL’S SPORT CO-ORDINATOR AT THE END OF THE DAY. SCHOOLS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE ADEQUATE STAFF TO SUPERVISE COMPETITORS SITTING OR WAITING IN THE STANDS.

ALSO PLEASE INFORM STUDENTS THAT THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT THE CANTEEN END OF THE TRACK IS OUT-OF-BOUNDS.

AT THE END OF THE DAY PLEASE SEE ALL RUBBISH IS CLEANED UP AS WE ARE REQUIRED TO SWEEP THE STAND WHICH TAKES APPROX MIN. 40 –50 MINUTES AS THERE IS NOW A FEE CHARGED IF WE LEAVE ANY RUBBISH

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS AN EARLIER START TO THE PROGRAM IN A REAL EFFORT TO BE FINISHED BY 2.40 PM. THERE IS NO LUNCH BREAK SO PLEASE ARRANGE FOR THE OFFICIALS WHO ARE OUT ON THE TRACK OR AT A FIELD EVENT FROM YOUR SCHOOL TO BE WATERED AND FED DURING THE DAY.

EASTERN REGION QUALIFIERS

The EMR REGION Championships will be held at Knox Athletic Track, on FRIDAY 7THOCTOBER. Selection is based on the following results of the Waverley Division Track & Field Carnival.

1.First place in all events

2.Second place in 800m, 1500m, 1500m walk and 3000m.

  1. Third place in 3000m.

STATE TRACK & FIELD CARNIVAL –Students/relays winning at Region – FRIDAY 13TH OCTOBER, 2017 at LAKESIDE STADIUM, SOUTH MELBOURNE [opposite MSAC]commencing at 10:00am through to 7:00pm
