2017 Riverside Thursday Night Golf League Rules

  1. This is a fun league - Enjoy and use common sense!

2. Play your match - absent member responsible for substitute. Subs who do not have a match but are at the course should leave notice of their availability on the posted schedule sheet. Please include cell phone number or hang around the clubhouse. Although it is the primary responsibility of the absent regular player to schedule a sub, this is a fun league and the opponent should make every attempt to recruit a sub for the absent member if one is available.

◦League tee times will be between 3:00– 6:00 on a first come first serve basis. The only exception is on shotgun nights. Depending on course availability, golf from 1:00-3:00 is also included with your league and course fees. You must contact the club house for a tee time during the 1:00-3:00 slot. Cart charges are not included with league and course fees and must be paid for ALL holes played. There are no all day cart fees for the 2015 season.

◦Matching cards is not allowed.

◦You are responsible to contact your match for the following week to set up a tee time with your match. Players who are arriving the latest will have tee time preference. If you can be there at 3:30 but your match can’t arrive till 5:30, you are responsible to accommodate the later arriving player. If you have to leave before 5:30, you will be required to get a sub to play your match.

◦6:00 is the latest matches are permitted to start, with the exception of a shotgun start. If your match does not arrive by 6:00, they will be a forfeit.

◦If you forfeit for any reason, you will be ineligible for skins the following week, as a penalty.

3. Winter rules in fairway - Play your ball as it lies in the rough, exemptions from this rule will be posted on the board before play begins, if conditions are deemed too severe. If the NO TOUCH in the rough rule is not followed then the player is not eligible for skins for that round.

4. Ball in water - 1 stroke penalty - Hit from line of flight

5. Out of bounds - Stroke and Distance penalty - Drop ball at the same spot you just hit from - If questionable, you MUST hit a provisional ball.

•Driving range is out of bounds for league play

6. Ball hit in woods – Always hit provisional ball, then if found, play it as it lies or 1 stroke penalty and drop on line of flight into hazard. If lost, treat same as out of bounds, i.e. stroke and distance penalty, then play from provisional ball.

7. Manmade hazard - Two-club relief, no closer to the hole, with no penalty.

8. Ball in casual water - Free drop no closer to hole, no penalty

9. Ground under repair - Free drop no closer to hole, no penalty

10. Ball plugged under wet conditions - Lift, clean, and place, no penalty

11. Putt everything out - use common sense

12. Turn in score card after ninth hole - Use first and last names

•Scorecards must be turned in within 1/2 hour after dark or they will be considered forfeits if not available upon last call for scorecards.

13. If you do not finish a hole, you lose the hole and total. It is NOT your decision to pick up your ball AND determine what score to record. It is your opponent’s decision to have you finish the hole, take an "X", or agree to another score. Two or more "X"'s in one round will be scored as a forfeit of the round and all other rules that pertain to forfeits will apply. We all have "blow up" holes from time to time. Because this is a fun league, we ask that you use common sense but strongly recommend that no negotiation of how to resolve the hole score be completed until your ball has at least reached the green. We also recommend that these decisions not be made solely based on our use of the Old USGA ESC guidelines for handicapping. Technically, every stroke should be counted and recorded until the ball is in the hole. Our handicapping software will make the appropriate adjustments.

14. Points - Full handicap - 1 point for each hole and 1 point for total. You must count all your strokes.

15. Forfeit - Player or substitute showing up will be awarded 8 points provided he shoots his handicap or better - 1 point penalty for each stroke above your handicap up to a maximum penalty of 3 points. In other words, you will get between 5 and 8 points depending on how well you play. •Double forfeit - 2 points each player

16. Handicaps change each week; Flights change at the beginning of each month.

17. In event of rain all matches must be played or no matches will count (common sense prevails). This is a men's league and on occasion weather conditions are not ideal. Riverside Owners and League Officers will decide by 5:30 if matches for the day will be cancelled. This leaves enough time to begin a shotgun at 6:00 if necessary. If you opt to not play and the matches have not been cancelled the forfeit rules apply.

18. Settle your disputes on the course. Use common sense, this is a fun league. If you cannot settle the dispute, the officers( Harley, Paul, Jack and Mike) with the advice of the pro, when necessary, will decide the dispute. The officers will be guided by the rules of golf.

20. Have fun at all times but still count all your strokes

21. DROP ZONE HOLE NUMBER 15

•ANY PLAYER HITTING INTO OBSTACLES IN FRONT OF NUMBER 15 TEE HAS THE OPTION TO EITHER PLAY THE BALL AS IT LIES OR PUT THE BALL INTO PLAY AT THE LADIES/SENIOR TEE. THE PLAYER ACCEPTING THE LATTER WILL INCUR A ONE STROKE PENALTY. THE PLAYER WILL THUS BE LIEING TWO, HITTING THREE. THE PLAYER IS NOT ENTITLED TO PLACE A TEE UNDER THE BALL. A PLAYER ACCEPTING THE OPTION TO PLAY THE BALL IS NOT ENTITLED TO RELIEF FOR HITTING THE BALL FURTHER INTO THE OBSTACLE WITHOUT INCURRING A FURTHER ONE STROKE PENALTY. THIS OPTION IS AVAILABLE TO ALL PLAYERS.

22. SENIOR Gold Tees- Any player who will turn 65 or older during 2017 is eligible to use the Gold tees. Others under 65 may also apply for consideration for medical/injury reasons. Player must make their decision three weeks prior to the opening match day to allow enough time for team selections and handicap calculations. This decision will be for the complete golf season.

23. To make things easier and even for six men on a team we are also reclassifying flights for skins - 1 & 2 players will be in A flight, 3 & 4 will be in B flight, and 5 & 6 players will be in C flight. This will be for regular players. Subs will be 12+ in C flight, 8-12 B flight and under 8 in A flight regardless of what position they play in. Because skins money is contributed in advance by regular players only, A, B and C flight total skins money will be the same every match.

24. For line prizes for dinners the division will remain two groups. With 1,2, & 3 men in one group and 4,5, & 6 men in the second group.
