2017 QLD/NT PGA Trainee Championship

Conditions of Entry

1. The Championship will be played under the auspices of the PGA of Australia, QLD/NT Division, in accordance with the Membership Regulations Handbook. This will include the 2017 Local Rules and Conditions of Competition (PGA Tour Hard Card) as published by the Australasian PGA Tour, and such additional Local Rules as approved by the Championship Committee.

2. The Championship will be played over 72 holes, with 18 holes stroke play on Monday 5th June, 18 hole stroke play on Tuesday 6th June, 18 hole stroke play on Wednesday 7th June and 18 holes stroke play on Thursday 8th June 2017. In the case of a cancellation of play due to unforeseen circumstances, the number of holes may be reduced, or more than 18 holes played in one day, at the discretion of the Championship Committee.

3. The field will be cut after the second round to the leading fifty (50) Professionals plus ties. Prize money will be paid out as per the appropriate prize money breakdown, with any unallocated prize money being reallocated to the field as per PGA Membership Regulation 9.1.5 (c).

4. The Championship field shall be limited to 100 competitors. Any extension to the field will be reviewed closer to the time of the tournament. It is compulsory for Queensland Trainees to enter the Championship. Probationary and Provisional Members who still need to pass a playing requirement are also encouraged to compete. The balance of the field will comprise of interstate PGA Trainees. If the field size exceeds the limit, entries will be balloted in accordance with State Trainee Championship eligibility criteria outlined in the policy, 2017 Trainee Tournament Exemption Categories.

5. In the event of a tie or ties for the Championship, a sudden death play-off shall be conducted. Play shall continue with competitors being eliminated as they fail to maintain equality of score, until a winner is determined.

6. The Championship will be under the control of the “Championship Committee”. The Championship Committee shall comprise of the QLD/NT PGA State Manager, QLD/NT PGA Assistant State Manager and the QLD PGA Trainee Committee.

7. The decision of the Championship Committee will be final in all matters relating to the Championship. Protests must be made to the Championship Committee no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of play, except on the final day when they must be made before the release of the final results.

8. The Championship Committee reserves the right to vary any conditions of the Championship.

9. The winner of the championship and the ‘Carnegie Clark Golf Cup’ will be the lowest scoring PGA Trainee at the conclusion of the tournament.

ENTRIES

1. Entries close at 11:59pm on 15th May 2017. The Championship Committee reserves the right, to accept entries after that time.

2. It is the competitor’s responsibility to confirm that the QLD PGA has received the online entry.

3. Entries will only be accepted via My Tournaments on MyPGA, and accompanied by the commitment to the entry fee. Telephone, email or paper entries will not be accepted. All entries are subject to the approval of the Championship Committee who reserves the right to accept or refuse any entry.

4. All QLD trainees are required to sell 2 raffle books (total of $500.00). Trainees must return all raffle ticket books, whether sold or unsold, at Registrations on Sunday 4th June 2017. Credit cards used by Trainees to enter the tournament, shall be charged the full $500 for the compulsory raffle books on Friday 2nd June 2017. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure sufficient funds are available on such credit card on this date. Any Trainee who doesn’t provide the monies from the ticket sales at this time may have their entry revoked and may open themselves to disciplinary action.

REGISTRATION

1. All competitors must register in person on Sunday 4th June 2017 at the Indooroopilly Golf Club between 8am and 3pm. Telephone registrations will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances and with prior approval by the Championship Committee.

EVENTS / FUNCTIONS

1. The Championship Pro-Am will be held on Sunday 4th June 2017. It is COMPULSORY for all entrants to make themselves available to play. A maximum of 50 Trainees will be given the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am and the Championship Committee shall choose such competitors on criteria primarily based around 2017 Adjusted Averages and the sale of Raffle tickets. Those competitors required to play will be notified prior to the event, and tee times will be available on the PGA website.

2. Additional Junior Clinics and Community Engagement Activities will be confirmed prior to the event and should competitors be requested for such clinics/activities, these will be COMPULSORY events.

REPRESENTATION OF THE PGA

1. Trainees are reminded that whenever they are at the Indooroopilly Golf Club, PGA Dress Regulations apply whilst using the facilities. Competitors are also reminded that they are representing the PGA at all times during their visit and conduct is expected to be in parallel with the Code of Conduct outlined in the PGA Membership Regulations. Any breach of the Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action.
