2017 National FFA Scholarship Program

FFA (the letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America) is an inter-curricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The official name of the organization is National FFA Organization. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. The selection process takes into account the whole student – FFA involvement, work experience, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics.

Who is eligible to apply for the 2016 National FFA Scholarship Program?

●  Be a high school senior or currently enrolled in college

●  Be less than 23 years of age at time of application (February 1)

●  Be current FFA members unless otherwise stated

●  Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

●  Must have Social Security Number to claim scholarships

●  Plan to attend post-secondary school in the U.S.

●  Be a full-time student

●  Currently enrolled and actively attending classes

●  Minimum 12 credit hours if enrolled in a post-secondary institution

How much is the 2016 National FFA Scholarship Program scholarship worth?

In 2015, the National FFA Organization awarded $2.7 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. This year, over 2.2 million dollars in scholarships will be given out!

When is the 2016 National FFA Scholarship Program application due?

Courageous Persuaders Scholarship

What is the Courageous Persuaders Scholarship? According to the Courageous Persuaders website, students can “Create a TV commercial targeted at middle school students to warn them about the dangers of underage drinking. Win scholarship money and trophies, have fun, and gain valuable experience. The grand prize-winning commercial will be broadcast on TV and the team that created it will work with Pluto Post and the Detroit Auto Dealers Education Foundation to upgrade their spot for air.”
Who is eligible to apply to the Courageous Persuaders Scholarship?
Open to all high school students in grades 9-12 – not only those taking video production.
To enter, Create a 30-second commercial to warn middle school students about the DANGERS OF UNDERAGE DRINKING or the DANGERS OF TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. Students can enter separate videos in both categories.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program

“According to their website, “Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $28,000/four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.”
Who is eligible to apply Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship?
Be a graduating high school senior;
Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States;
Show leadership potential;
Demonstrate a dedication to community service;
Present evidence of financial need;
Be a United States citizen;
A composite ACT score of 21;
Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship.
The required components of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship are as follows:
The online application, which includes four essay questions;
A professional, hi-resolution digital photo (headshots only, in a JPEG format) – you may submit a high school senior graduation photo;
One letter of recommendation (e.g. a teacher, a mentor, a guidance counselor, an employer);
SAT or ACT scores: If you have taken the SAT or ACT more than once, please enter your best scores from each test. NOTE: JRF does not consider the writing scores as part of your examination.

Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund

Who is eligible to apply to the Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund?
Applicants to the Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund must:
be dependent children of active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the United States military who hold valid Exchange & Commissary shopping privileges at the time of application,
be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll for the first time in a full time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, and
have a minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, at the time of application.
What is the amount of the scholarship?
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Provided there are qualified applicants, three awards will be given per branch of service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard). Awards are one time only and not renewable (for undergraduate study only).
When is the scholarship due?
Interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Scholarship Management Services postmarked no later than February 17, 2017. Grade reports are not acceptable. Applicants are also required to submit a copy of the parent’s Military ID or other proof of service to verify eligibility. Only the first 100 applications received will be acknowledged and processed.

The 2017 Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships


The Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships are currently being offered. These are two scholarships worth $5,000 each. This is a great scholarship that aims to support students who are vegetarians.
Who is eligible for the Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships?
The contest is open to all graduating high school students in the U.S. who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities.
What are the application requirements?

The “application” is essentially a cover letter covering a variety of questions (listed on the scholarship site), along with an essay addressing a variety of questions posted by the Vegetarian Resource Group (once again, available on the site). Women of Distinction Network’s Annual Scholarship

The Women of Distinction Network’s Annual Scholarship award provides ten young ladies who have made a positive change in their lives with a brand new laptop computer!
The mission of the Women of Distinction is to “provide positive mentorship to young females as they transition into adulthood, motivate women, and enhance the lives of citizens in need within our community.”
Who is eligible to apply for the Women of Distinction Network’s Annual Scholarship?
1. Applicant must be registered in a technical college or four year institution.
2. Applicant must be a senior level high school student or already attending a technical college or four year institution.
3. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with a permanent resident ID card.
4. Applicant must be present for the organization’s Scholarship Banquet to receive award.

Innovation in Education Scholarship

At LA Tutors, they believe that it’s more than just the grades that make a great well-rounded student. They believe that “each one of you is creative in his or her own way: some of you blog; others curate documentary photography on Instagram; still others find imaginative ways to solve problems in their public and private lives. Creativity is the air each one of us breathes, but sometimes we get so concerned with grades that we forget that imagination is our natural problem solver.
LA Tutors is passionate about sparking the creative genius in students and would love to commend those outstanding students who have a made a difference in the lives of others in some innovative or technological fashion. In order to achieve this, they have established the Innovation in Education Scholarship students who meet certain criteria.”
In order to be eligible to apply for the Innovation in Education Scholarship, students must:
Be currently enrolled in a high school or college/university within the United States or Canada.
Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent).
Be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada.
Have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others (This could be a website, series of blogs, an app, fundraising event, etc.)
Submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation (the essay, idea, or creation must be the applicant’s original work).
How much is the Innovation in Education Scholarship worth?
The applicant of the winning project will receive a one-time scholarship of $500. The funds may be applied to the following school-related expenses: tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board. The scholarship winner will be contacted via email at the address provided and must respond within five(5) days to receive the award. Scholarship funds are provided by LA Tutors 123 and will be paid via mail to the winning applicant.
When is the Innovation in Education Scholarship application due?
All submissions must be uploaded no later than 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month. The submission window closes starting the 21st and will reopen on the 1st at 8:00 a.m.
