2017 Islander Splash Meet Information:
- Dates:
- High School races: Saturday 23 September 2017
- University races: Saturday 23 September 2017
- Middle School and Elementary races: Thursday 21 September 2017
- Where: Islander Cross Country course in the grounds of the Dugan Track and Soccer Stadium, 700 Nile Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78412
- Entry:
- High Schools and Universities enter at Instructions to set up an account are attached.
- Middle Schools and Elementary schools email the meet director: intention to compete.
- Eligibility to run:
- Saturday University/college races: All colleges/universities are invited. All open athletes are invited but must be out of high school.
- Saturday High School races: All high schools are invited. No clubs or unattached individuals are allowed.
- Thursday races: All middle school and elementary schools are invited. No clubs or unattached individuals are allowed.
- Entry limits: In the Gold Division of the High School races each school is limited to one team of 7 runners. There are no entry limits in any other division for high school, college, middle school or elementary school.
- High School Divisions: Any high school may enter athletes in any high school division. The Gold Division is for elite teams regardless of school size. The other division titles are indicative of the size of school competing, so it is recommended that 6A and 5A schools enter the Large school division, 4A and 3A schools enter the Medium school division and 2A and 1A schools enter the Small school division; but schools are not required to do so.
Entry Fees: (Do not mail entry fees!)
- Middle schools and elementary schools have no entry fee.
- High school entry fees are $15 for each athlete entered. NOTE: These are entry fees not participation fees. All athletes entered on the date of entry deadline will be charged regardless if they compete or not. NOTE: The maximum entry fee for entries for a high school is $500/school. Once that ceiling of entry fees is reached no further charges will be made.
- Universities entry fees are $250 per school per gender. Unattached or club runners are $25 per individual.
- Payment of entry fees: Check’s, cash or credit cards may be used to pay entry fees. Checks should be made out to: TAMUCC Athletics. DO NOT MAIL PAYMENT!!!! Bring your entry fee to the meet. Check below for packet pick up times. Checks should be made out to TAMUCC Athletics. Packets will not be released without payment.
- Entry Deadline: Tuesday September 19, 2017 8:00pm. Entries made after that date will be charged $100 late fee. Contact Shawn Flanagan, meet director, for late entries.
- Chip Timing for all university and high school races. Schools will be charged $5/chip for lost chips. Turn in chips of athletes not competing at Packet Pick up.
- W-9 Forms: If your school requires a W-9 to make payment contact the meet Director:
- Packet Pick up: At the front of the track stadium:
- Universities: 4-6pm Friday and 6:30am Saturday
- High Schools: 4-6pm Friday and as indicated on meet schedule
- Parking: There is no fee for parking.
- Saturday Parking:
- Team parking is at the track or tennis court lots for team vans. Buses will drop at the stadium and then continue to main campus and park at the Hammerhead lot, which is located at the second entrance onto campus. See Map. A shuttle will take bus drivers to and from Hammerhead and the track stadium lot.
- Spectator parking will be one of two places depending on the weather:
- If the weather is dry: parking will be on the grass field areas on Nile St. across from the track stadium and tennis courts.
- If the weather is wet so that we are unable to park cars on the grassy fields near the track stadium: Parking will be on the main TAMU-CC campus. There will be shuttle buses to take you from the main campus back to the track area and return.
- Handicap parking is at the track stadium lot.
- Admission: There is no charge for admission.
- Team camps: will be in the grassy areas adjacent to the track stadium stands. No participants or spectators will be allowed on the track or into the track infield.
- Awards and Awards Ceremony:
- In Elementary and Middle School races top finisher will get a t-shirt. T-shirt will be handed out in finish chute. No team awards.
- In University races top 10 finishers will get a t-shirt. T-shirts handed out in finish chute. No team awards.
- In High school races top 10 finishers will get a medal. Top 3 teams will get an award. Medals will be giving out in the finish chute. Team awards will be handed out at awards stand at times indicated on meet schedule.
- T-shirts and concessions will be available in the area by the track stadium.
- Results will be posted for all races on Saturday on the wall of shed behind the track stadium. No results will be kept for Thursday races.
