2017 Industry Award Applications are Now Open!
Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria (NGIV) Award applications are now open. The industry based awards are announced at the NGIV Annual Gala Dinner, to be held on Saturday 24thFebruary 2018at the Hotel Windsor. NGIV is asking all members to consider nominating individuals for the following awards:
- Tree and Shrub Growers of Victoria Scholarship
- NextGen Victoria Trainee/Apprentice of the Year
To submit an application for these award(s), please address the key selection criteria, complete the nomination form and send to:

Tree and Shrub Growers of Victoria Scholarship
The scholarship, provides the recipient with up to $2,000* of value to use on any NGIV-managed training and/or event. These may include:
- Attendance to monthly Tree and Shrub Growerand NextGen meetings
- Attendance to the Tree & Shrub Growers interstate tour
- Attendance to annual national or state conferences
- Attendance to NGIV training courses of choice
- Work experience with the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- A permanent resident of Australia
- Live in Victoria
- An NGIV member or staff of NGIV member
- A Tree and Shrub Growers or NextGen member
Key Selection Criteria
The application needs to address each of the following key selection criteria:
- Whythe applicant has applied and how the scholarship will make adifference to the applicant’s professional development.(100words)
- Discusshow the knowledge gained through the scholarship will be applied to your career.(100 words)
- Describe one great idea you have for the nursery industry and how you think this will improve the industry.(200 words)
*The scholarship voucher is valid for 12 months.

NextGen Victoria Trainee / Apprentice of the Year Award

The NextGen Victoria Trainee/Apprentice of the Year Award is open to a student of any age undertaking a traineeship or apprenticeship between 1 October 2016 and 30December 2017 in a vocational education and training course that leads to a nationally recognised qualification relevant to the Victorian Apprentice of the Year.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- A permanent resident of Australia
- Live in Victoria
- Have a contract of training registered with DEECD Higher Education
Key Selection Criteria
The application needs to address each of the following key selection criteria:
- Discuss why you have decided to choose to study in the Nursery and Garden industry (200 words)
- Discuss your career highlights and study achievements(100 words)
- Provide examples of your communication, team and leadership skills(100 words)
- Explain why you would make a suitable representative for the Victorian Nursery and Garden Industry at a broader level. (100 words)
