2017 APCO Western Regional Conference

This Call for Papers invites APCO members, business professionals, industry associates, and educators to submit a written proposal for development of an educational program, workshop, or panel discussion for the 2017 APCO Western Regional Conference (WRC). Presentation proposals should be of interest to public-safety communications professionals and should not be product or brand specific.

The Conference:

CPRA (California Public-Safety Radio Association), the southern California Chapter of APCO International, is proud to be hosting the 2017 APCO WRC! This is an educational and networking event for public safety communications professionals to explore the most critical issues affecting the 9-1-1 industry. The conference will be held April 10-13, 2017 at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California.

Conference attendees include frontline Telephone and Radio Telecommunicators, Supervisors, Managers and Directors, Radio/IT Technicians and Managers, and Emergency Management personnel involved in public-safety communications.

Presentations Desired:

The 2017 APCO WRC Program Committee is looking for high-quality and unique training sessions for a variety of attendees and interests. Training sessions should be relevant and timely to 9-1-1 center operations and/or the public-safety communications industry.

Proposed training sessions typically fit into one of the following categories: Frontline Operations; Supervision and Management; Health and Wellness; Public Information and Education; Technology; and General/Special Interest.

Training sessions will predominately be 50 minutes long, however we will also be offering limited 1 hour, 50 minute sessions during the 2017 APCO WRC in Ontario.

All proposals must be submitted no later than September 30, 2016.

Evaluation Criteria:

Historical data from surveys and evaluations of previous sessions/conferences are used to analyze potential attendees’ interest in proposed topics, as well as the speakers’ ability to provide high-quality sessions. Proposed sessions will be evaluated on the quality, relevance, timeliness, practicality, target audience, and overall impact of the presentation.

Presenter Guidelines and Registration:

Presenters are responsible for all travel-related expenses, such as airfare, mileage, parking, hotel, meals, etc. Presenters will receive a one-day pass for the 2017 APCO WRC (Good for the same day of the speaker’s session. One pass only, regardless of the number of speakers in a single session.). If a speaker is presenting two (2) or more sessions a Full-Conference Registration is provided (with the exception of add-on entertainment/special dinners). All presenters will need to register for the conference once conference registration opens. Online registration information will be provided to the presenter.
