Dear AGJA Member and Family,
We want to extend a special invitation to you to participate in the 2017 AGJA Eastern Regional in Batesville, Mississippi on the weekend of June 2 - 4. This event will be held at the Batesville Civic Center. Enclosed is detailed information about the plans for the weekend event and we hope that you are able to attend.
Our headquarter hotel, American Best Value Inn, is available with a block of rooms reserved. The block is under the group name “Eastern Regional Cattle Show” and will be released after May 15, 2017. You may call (662) 563 4528to reserve your room. Hampton Inn will give 10% off to AGJA families. Other hotels are available: Comfort Inn and Suites, andHoliday Inn Express. Participant registration information is enclosed in this packet. Please complete the Entry Form and return to them along with your entry fees to Beverly Manning by May 1, 2017.
We want to provide you with the upmost southern hospitality during your stay in Mississippi. We will be providing bedding for the barn and straw for tie-outs. Please bring your own hay. Also, we have some outstanding meals planned!
Note: No dogs are permitted on the grounds and NO ALCOHOL at the event. Also, check with your veterinarian and make sure to bring proper health papers with you. State inspectors will check health papers.
Please participate! We will offer several AGJA contests to promote good cattle production and leadership. Juniors, enter as many or all you want! Rules are enclosed and for more contest information you may visit under the Juniors tab and then AGJA Events.
Cattle can enter the grounds after 12:00 noon on Friday and need to be in place no later than 8:00 am Saturday. Also, we will have a 15 minute Devotional Time on Sunday morning before the show. We ask that all blow dyers and other equipment be turned off during this time.

General Information
2017 AGJA Eastern Regional
Dixieland Classic
- Entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2017.
- The entry fee is $40.00 per head.
- All animals must be registered with the American Gelbvieh Association prior to entry and form must be completed with the animal’s AMGV#.
- In order to participate Juniors must have an AGJA membership in good standing (AGJA dues and 2017 Herd Assessment paid)
- To satisfy ownership requirements animals entered must be owned by the AGJA member or an immediate family member as of the entry date.
- In order to show an animal as Bred and Owned the dam of the animal must have been solely owned by the AGJA member (not the family) at the time of breeding.
- Bedding for the barn will be furnished. No other bedding will be allowed in the barn.Straw will be provided for tie-outs.
- No cattle or equipment may move in the barns prior to 12:00 noon Friday. All cattle need to be in place in the barn by Saturday morning. If you will be delayed in arriving on the grounds before 8:00 am Saturday, please let the show committee know by callingBeverly Manning at 662-563-1056. Please leave a message and your call will be returned. Cattle and the equipment need to be removed from the barns and the grounds at the conclusion of the show on Sunday, by no later than 5:00 pm.
- All aisle-ways in the barn must be free of equipment, including chutes. No fans will be allowed in the aisles of the barn. All stalls and tack area should be kept clean and neat. There will be designated areas for manure to be removed from the stall area. Please use these areas to keep the show an impressive event for the AGJA image.
- Wash racks will be available, space is limited.
- Please bring a generator.
